Fourth Wall Permissions Post

The Hunter part of "SunHunter" is a little bit of a fangeek/nerd.

Okay, A LOT of a fangeek/nerd.

Canon gave us X-Files posters on his walls by his computer. He ran a website at mechatopia.com for a few years, which collected and discussed evidence of the presence of giant alien robots on Earth (described therein as "extra-vehicular activity"). ( Read more... )

Xigbar is so fair game. Neku is from a 2008 canon and TFA Optimus is from 2007, so I guess they're not on his radar. Well, Optimus is Optimus so.

But yes! Fourth wall Xigbar all you like, if you think Hunter would have played Kingdom Hearts.

At the very least, I think he'll recognize the members of the Organization. Heck, I've never played any of KH games, but I know the characters when I see them. Advertisements were so prominent before and after the release of the games, after all.

As for Optimus... This will be interesting. Animated Prime is so very obviously NOT G1 Prime, but there that resemblance. Plus the last time Sunstreaker saw Prime, he was...kind of at death's door.

No real geek would miss Watchmen. XD Go for it.

And as far as Bret goes, I think he'd be really confused if he was compared to his real-life counterpart who was actually pretty successful by 2006. Flight of the Conchords had a BBC radio show in 2004, so if he's into that sort of thing, it'd confuse the hell out of Bret.

Hell, I need to look up more info on Watchmen because you're absolutely right about that, though I've never read the graphic novel and have yet to see the movie. (I should at least remedy the latter sometime soon.)

Bret...I'm not too sure about. I think I'll have to play that one by ear. I'd not heard of Flight of the Conchords until you apped the character in, unfortunately. ^^;;

He'll probably fourth wall the KH characters on the whole, if just in a, "Hey, I know you!" in a general sort of fashion. ("Teenage girls really like you guys. Um. Ever heard of the internet?" LOL.)

Batman's completely fair game. Really. Even kids in third world countries know Batman. XDDD You can make him know Batman's canon, or you could make him only familiar with Adam West Batman, etc.

As for Wally, pretty much the same thing. =3 He might be more familiar with "the Flash" than Kid Flash though.

Oh man. I gotta be honest. Batman and Robin are like the big ones, here. XD He'll HAVE to know Adam West Batman. I mean, who doesn't? It was probably the kind of show Hunter watched as a kid (I know I did). Plus he'll probably have seen some of the older movies (oh yay, George Clooney Batman! LOL). I seriously doubt he'll want to get into serious, detailed discussions about what he does know, though, if just because it'll seem too surreal.

Teen Titans actually completed its fifth season run in January of 2006 and while I don't think he would have watched it religiously, he was probably at least aware of it.

Well, whatever you want him to rant about, I'm totally ok with! Fffft. -Imagines him acting like little Bruce did about the Gray Ghost-

XDD He'll know the main Titans for sure then. Wally's in only 2 episodes though. XD Wally: ;A; How do you know Robin and not me? -sulks-

The fourth wall is always fun to break. XD

He'd probably recognize Plastic Man from the cheesy old cartoon, and the comics. Of course, that'll mean confusion all around, since Brave and the Bold plays with his history a bit, and his usual friend/partner Woozy doesn't exist.

He'd know who Nick Fury is, and since Marvel 1602 was printed in 03 and 04, this specific version is also fair game.

GLaDOS is just barely out of the range, but he might vaguely recognize her voice if he watched the trailers for the game.

Hunter's reaction to Plastic Man will probably be similar to what happened over on dear_mun. ;) Definitely a character he'll recall from his childhood, watching the cartoons.

I'll need to look up a bit more info on Marvel 1602, since it's not a continuity I'm all that familiar with, at all.

As for Portal... damn that few months worth of difference. It's going to be hard to resist the urge to have him yell, "THE CAKE IS A LIE!" X]

He could have an early illegal copy of Portal? XD But there's always "If at first you don't succeed, you fail."

And I have 1602, if you want to read it; I can give you a link or something. XD It's Elizabethan super heroes written by Neil Gaiman; what's not to love?
