Hello, my friends!
Well, 11 months after the fire at Mother's Cafe, I have the great joy of announcing that I have my regular gig there again!
Mother's re-opened in October, but the Garden has been under construction. It isn't 100% finished, but people are being seated in there now. It's very beautiful, and seems much roomier than the old place ( Read more... ) -
Mother's Cafe is back!!!
Finally, a little good news...Mother's Cafe has reopened! The lovely restaurant that supported my career for nine years, that Austin icon of vegetarian satisfaction since 1980, is back! The garden area hasn't been put back together yet, as they are still waiting for some permits, but it's just a matter of a bit more time. The inside area is ready ( Read more... ) -

Mother's Cafe burned yesterday. The garden, where I've been sitting and playing harp three days a week for nine years, is totally destroyed. At least the kitchen and the office, with all the business records, made it through okay, so it isn't a total loss. In today's strange synchronicity, did anyone else notice that the front page of today's Wikipedia has a featured article on global warming; meanwhile, in sports news, the Miami Heat won the NBA championship; and the NHL season concludes with a Stanley Cup victory by the Carolina Hurricanes.
