Well, I was at work when the insurance adjustor called. The initial estimate for repairs on the car were sufficient to declare it a total loss. I was trying to be hopeful and think the car was repairable, but deep down I knew it was probably going to be totaled. WHAT?! You wish you could have avoided the accident better?!! That ass pummeled into YOU. YOU did nothing wrong and you swerved the best you could and are darn lucky you weren't more seriously injured! This isn't your fault. It's that idiots fault. Don't go beating up on yourself.

I've already looked up what fair market value for the car is for my market. That would be the price to buy the same make and model car with similar mileage, similar year with a similar condition and it comes out somewhere around $7200. That is what the insurance company should offer me for totaling the car (minus the deductible).

We'll see what they offer and then go from there.
