Author:
that_1_incidentFandom: Fall Out Boy
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Profanity, innuendo
Pairing: Pete Wentz/Patrick Stump
Word Count: ~1,000
Summary: Key moments in Pete and Patrick's relationship, told through 25 buzzwords, short scenes and written soundbytes.
Disclaimer: This is all the product of my imagination, except for the following:
- The thing with the pills and the Best Buy in #1 and #24 (and Pete has said that he was listening to Jeff Buckley at the time).
- The dialogue in #2, which is what Pete actually said the first time he met Patrick.
- The Sidekick Incident referred to in #4, which is of course the infamous p33ng4te. Fun fact: He referred to it on the Fueled By Ramen blog one time as "that one incident out there," which is actually how I got my writer name.
- The excerpt in #6, which comes from one of Pete's journal entries on the Fueled By Ramen blog.
- Pete's issues with insomnia, as indirectly referenced in #7.
- The picture described in #12, which was in fact printed in Kerrang! magazine.
- The signs above Pete's bunk in #15, which are mentioned in the interview he did for the spring '07 issue of Nylon for Guys, or whatever the hell that magazine is called.
- Pete has said he really is a big fan of Project Runway (#19).
- The Patrick 2.0 shirt, which did exist and was sold for a while on the Clandestine Industries site (#20).
- Joe really did meet Patrick in Borders (#22).
And wow, I think that's it. You're getting your FOB education here, kids.
Author's Notes: Thanks to Julie for helping me out with some of the titles. I was inspired by reading
this, which is essentially the same idea but with Gerard and Mikey Way. I didn't steal the content but I did emulate the form.

1. Hallelujah
On that frigid February afternoon in the car park, Pete briefly pictured Patrick in his mind’s eye in between delicate handfuls of blue pills. It was the only thought that made him pause.
2. Argyle
“Please tell me you’re kidding with that sweater.”
Patrick wasn’t.
3. Vinyl
The record skipped just as Pete walked over to the turntable. Patrick usually left the metaphors to Pete, but he couldn’t help thinking this was the perfect illustration for what happened to his heart the day the other boy came into his life.
Even if Pete did insult his argyle.
4. Interwebs
Patrick stared at the screen of the Sidekick, blinked, and then sighed.
“I told you not to make your security question something as obvious as ‘What was the name of the street you grew up on?’ but you never listen to me, do you, Pete?”
Pete groaned and put his head in his hands.
5. Amnesia
Patrick wishes he could remember the first time he kissed Pete, but at the time he was seeing stars, not taking notes.
6. Lyrics
7.19.05
bestfriends, exfriends- better off as lovers not the other way around. racing through the city in the back of yellow checkered cars.
“I love it,” said Patrick, already drumming out preliminary beats on his thigh.
Pete beamed.
7. Moonset
Patrick turned over restlessly. Pete was snoring gently in the bunk below him, and Patrick found the whole situation quite ironic.
8. Sugar
“No, thank you,” Patrick said politely, denying the proffered Reese’s Piece. “I’m watching my weight.”
Pete frowned, crouched down, and looked directly into his eyes. “Why, Trick? You’re beautiful.”
9. Sunrise
The first night they spent together, Pete woke him up at 5 a.m. Patrick considered this cruel and unusual, but then a tiny pinprick of light appeared over the horizon and he stopped thinking and just watched. By the time the sun was peeking in at the window, Patrick had revised his judgment.
10. Lays
“I can hear you crunching from all the way over here,” Patrick grumbled.
Pete threw a potato chip at him.
11. Singular
“If you could kiss anyone in the whole world, who would it be?”
You, Patrick thought.
12. Bondage
“So wait a minute here,” Pete said incredulously to the guy in charge of the photo shoot, “you want Patrick to put tape over my mouth and shove me in a closet?”
Patrick grinned.
13. Inked
Patrick used to look at the monochrome swirls on Pete’s arm and wonder why the inked sleeve wasn’t bright colors like Andy’s. In time he grew to realize that the tattoos were the only things black and white and definite about Pete - that everything else was shades of gray.
14. Tickled
"If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?” Pete slammed the book closed authoritatively, a triumphant smirk on his face. “Shakespeare wrote about tickling!”
Patrick shook his head in mock exasperation.
15. Home
Pete had these two road signs on the wall next to his bunk. Two fans from Louisiana had gone out and stolen them to give to him at the concerts. One day, as he was wallowing in depression and paralyzed by self doubt, the only thing that could make him smile was Patrick crashing into the room, pointing at the ‘W’ in ‘Wentzville’ and saying “Listen, dude, how can you be depressed when there’s a whole fucking town named after you?”
16. (Sham)rockstar
Every year, Patrick warns Pete not to. Every March 17, Pete gives him a gift for St. Patrick’s Day anyway.
17. Google
Clutching an enormous stuffed leprechaun on his lap, Patrick munched on green Gummy Bears and searched for the date of St. Peter’s Day.
18. June 26
Pete sorted through the contents of his mailbox, opened a small package, and was profoundly mystified - at least until he read the card.
19. Project Runway
“I don’t know how you can watch this shit,” Patrick said casually, leaning through the living room door frame on the way to the kitchen.
Pete leaned over and pulled Patrick onto the couch, practically in his lap. “Give it a chance; it’s good.”
Patrick really didn’t like the show, but anything that allowed him to cuddle with Pete for an hour couldn’t be that bad.
20. Patrick 2.0
“You can open your eyes now.”
There was a stunned silence and then Patrick burst out laughing. “What the fuck is that?”
Pete spun on his heels, allowing Patrick to view his garb from every angle. “It’s going up on the Clandestine site tomorrow. You’re a brand name, my friend.”
21. Stage Fright
“I’m screwed,” Patrick whimpered, peering out at the crowd from backstage.
“Not now,” Pete purred from behind him, breath hot and wet on Patrick’s neck, “but later, if you’d like to be.”
22. Borders
“You met him where?”
“The kid’s all right,” Joe insisted. “He’s nice, Pete. I think you’ll like him.”
23. Corona
“You two are fucking, aren’t you?”
“What?!” Patrick hollered over the din of the music, thinking he must have misheard.
Bill downed the remainder of his beer and waved a hand in Pete’s general direction. “You and Pete.”
“We are not!” Patrick huffed.
The other man shrugged and went back to the dancefloor.
24. Signs
“Patrick,” Pete said quietly, his tone deadly serious. “Do you ever wish you could just sleep forever?”
Patrick didn’t reply, he just hugged Pete tighter and buried his nose in the other man’s dark hair. Two weeks later, Pete found himself in the parking lot of a Best Buy with a Jeff Buckley CD and some pills.
25. Epiphany
“Fuck it,” said Pete. “I can’t do this anymore.”
He grabbed Patrick’s shoulder, leaned in and kissed him, just like that. His memory of the event stops there, but he looks back on it knowing it was the best thing that ever happened to him.
