Was looking at the amazing work of someone whose skill I greatly admire, and wondered if I should just stop calling myself an artist.

IMO, you are what you do. If you draw, you are an artist regardless of quality. We don't say that a lousy cab driver isn't a cab driver at all.

That doesn't sound like much of a compliment, so let me add that many better-known self-described artists show no more skill at it than you do.

Thanks. Also, sorry to leave on such a negative note. I lost my hard drive not long after writing this entry and wasn't fully up and running for maybe a few months. After that, I just sort didn't get around to coming back to livejournal. Hope noone was very worried :(
