I am working on a painting for my niece. I am painting over a piece I paid very little for at HomeGoods, I believe it's some sort of wood. I have been working on it in stages since I have trouble finding time to just create it and be done ( Read more... )

I always get nervous that when I wipe up my acrylics there will be that haze look in the area.
Working on my own painting right now. It is due for auction on the 14th and I am so not done yet. *stress* It is for my school's fund raiser. Still need to build a frame for it.

It was not a perfect solution, but for bringing black back up, it worked out nice. In this case I liked the effect it created. If I hadn't like it, it still would have served me at a better place to re-paint than not doing it all. I had never heard of using baby wipes, so I thought I would throw it out there.
Do you make decent money on your paintings?

Yes, but I never have time to actually paint hardcore. I have been thinking about setting up a web-site to at least get my name more out there. Few of my friends know how to design web pages, it just the up keep.
Mostly it is word of mouth that sells my works. I have done several commisions (someone's house, kid, fantasy dragon, Jesus). I charge around 30$-50$ per square ft. If it is really a difficult piece I may charge more.

I don't think I could ever get paid to paint. Not unless I found some sort of niche. For myself, I have been using Photoshop to take pictures to pure black and white (no greys) and then I make overhead transparencies of them. Shoot the overhead on canvas, trace and then paint it in like a simple coloring book. I am liking the effect of these abstract images. If I ever finish anything, I will upload it. I do feel like I am cheating for some reason - which is stupid. I know so many people make money doing things like this. I think the general public would be shocked if they knew how many artists didn't just freehand draw their subjects.

That's good to know, thanks! I love baby wipes, I use them all the time. They have many uses!
