I have just finished writing a paper for a business writing class. I've titled it, "OMG INTERNETS!!!1! The Decline Of Written English Caused By Technology."

The last two lines?

"If this keeps up, those who use English as their primary form of communication may one day be branded as n00bs. Kthxbi."

I easily amuse myself. :)

before i left college, majoring in Linguistics, i'd started a paper on NetSpeak as a legitimate dialect (although it would probably wind up proving to be a pidgin, but i didn't get that far). of course, that was in '93, when the only source for language-shift was newsgroups and MUDs, so there wasn't a lot of change.
