Do you know a good book seller?

I have a couple of very old collectible books I'd like to sell. There's not many, and at least one should go for $100+. Does anyone on my friends list know a good book seller that would take a percent fee for selling these books ( Read more... )

I'd put them up on eBay; that's where you find people who specifically want *that* book, and are therefore willing to pay what it costs.

unfortunately, ebay is a marketplace for bargains, sometimes collectors, but still... mostly bargain-hunters.

eBay may be a marketplace for bargains, but that doesn't prevent getting a good price for something rare. Someone outbid me by a long stretch to buy a photo of one of my great-great-grandfathers -- I was willing to go as high as $75, but someone else paid over $200 for it.

Don't underestimate the power of "I MUST HAVE THIS!" B-)

If it were me, I might try to set myself up as a seller on AbeBooks:

:) Good luck!

What about actually going to a Used and Rare bookstore? Dawntreader in A^2? On Liberty, by the Kinko's. Worth a shot.

Dawn Treader is a great place to buy valuable books, but it isn't necessarily a great place to sell them. They drive a very hard bargain.

They are still open and they have a branch in Ferndale on Woodward, just south on Nine mile.

Erm...best I know of is Acorn Books in Columbus. Other than that, Ebay and Amazon and Half.com are good resources.
