[Real Life] Computer Shopping

 So, as a graduation present from my grandmother, I am now in the market for a new Mac. Price range around 1800-2200, I think. As I've only ever needed to shop for PCs, in the past, can anyone offer adivce...and maybe links?

And what are you wanting to do with it?

Laptop. And while I do venture into photo-editing and graphic design as well as web-design, I mostly need something portable with good battery life (and a spacious hard-drive) for random on-the-go word processing and editing.

If you are not running crazy-ass programs that eat up RAM like nobody's business (aka, graphic design, drafting and/or music making software) I would recommend *not* going with the macbook pros. The reason I have mine is so I can run CAD, Revit and Photoshop at the same time, with maybe a little 3ds max in the near future.

Mr. K has the regular macbook and likes it just fine.

And when I really have a hankerin' for craziness, I just go upstairs and use the G5. hee.

And links? Just use the Apple Store. It's silly to go anywhere else unless you get a family discount.
