I actually did watch last nights episode and I really enjoyed it. It was a bright shiny moment in an otherwise entirely crap-filled season. There was no abuse and I don't think John was made out to be any worse than we've ever seen before.

haha I AM SO TORN MEL. But they didn't out right say he was abusive or anything. They made him, from Dean's POV, a stone cold hard ass, but again: is this really news? And also shamefully of course I was hoping he actually WOULD beat Dean because I am a pervert. but uh, I digress.

I think it was Sam's POV in which John looked like a hard ass, not Dean's. Dean seemed to think John was completely reasonable.

Sam was all 'He left you here for TWO MONTHS?!' and Dean was all 'Duh, I LOST OUR MONEY. His hands were tied, dude'.
