Profic rec before I start wittering on about mutants: Their Changing Bodies, by Alaya Dawn Johnson. Forget Twilight; this is what teen vampires would be like. She deftly manages the shifts between terror and humour, and the main character is a massive nerd, which always gets points from me.

Things I watched in Wellington )

I love, love, love State of Play. There are so many little moments in it I cherish (to be honest, I can pretty much take or leave the main plot.) I also adore James McAvoy's real life wife. She is amazing. (But my love for Kelly MacDonald possibly trumps all.)

I didn't know McAvoy was in Shameless. Huh.

Your recs look interesting, and if I were to read in this fandom, I suspect we would read the same things.

He and Anne-Marie Duff are in the first two seasons. I liked it so much even apart from them that I'm considering watching the rest, except I read some spoilers on Wikipedia that I don't want to sign up for.

I'm just starting ep 2 of State of Play - no McAvoy yet but plenty of Kelly MacDonald and John Simm and general fantasticness. How did I not watch it years ago?

This fandom is really rewarding! If you know X-Men at all, you'd probably enjoy the Raven story.

This kidfic? Or other kidfic in which case LINK PLS.

It just got back! I need to set it up again. Seeing Legacy come out when I couldn't play = PAIN.

Other kid fic.

I PAID MONEY and then played for five minutes and thought the voices are kinda weird, I'll be back later and I keep meaning too. I'm kinda sad I'm not running off with Anders, tbh.

Shameless is so good! I didn't think I'd enjoy it that much either, but Steve and Fiona are such adorbs quasi-parents. And DEBBIE. She's the reason I put the good-acting cutoff at 11, because the less said about Carl the better.

I love almost everything Alaya Dawn Johnson's ever written, but I have this special soft spot (=spot of screaming adoration) for The Spirit Binders, which I keep shoving at people in bafflement that it's not more popular.

*googles* Oh, that's the one the library doesn't have. I should rectify that.

I capslocked for days about Moonshine (which there's going to be a sequel to :DDD), and it occurred to me the other week that she'd probably written some short stories. Best realisation ever. She has a high fantasy novella about sourdough!

State of Play is awesome! I must admit I started it because of John Simm and I love a good political thriller, but James McAvoy is delightful as well. In fact, the whole cast pretty much is.

And oh, Charles/Erik recs? Well maybe I'll just read one. ;) Thanks!

I have no idea what is going on (I never do with thrillers) but it's all so well written and the actors are so great that I'm totally in love.

More Charles/Erik recs coming up pretty soon, probably. I was trying to work this afternoon so of course I read fic instead.
