“Baci Il Cuoco.” That’s what the apron says. Sookie has no idea what language it is, but the big lipstick kiss mark over her heart kind of gives the meaning away. Every day she pokes through the clothes box, looking for a new tie for Mr. Shore. No luck with that yet, but the apron is a welcome addition to the kitchen, as far as she’s concerned. She ruined her Merlotte’s shirt spilling strawberry syrup on it. With one less concrete connection to home, she grieved for it as much as she’s grieved for anything since getting here.
All clothing-related sadness is in the past now. Sookie is in a good mood. Good moods mean she’s full of energy. Lots of energy means lots of food. Biscuits, bacon, rice pudding. Hash browns with potatoes instead of breadfruit - luxurious! She makes a big dish of Jello and places it in the refrigerator to firm up. Fruit salad, of course: pineapple, mango, banana, kiwi. Orange juice, coffee, tea. Later, she might try her hand at making something yummy with some of the peanut butter. They have the ingredients for a simple refrigerated candy, she thinks, peanut butter, coconut, honey, maybe balled up around little bits of fruit. It’s worth a try, at any rate.
In the storage room this morning, there’s a new type of food she’s never seen before. It looks like an orange but it’s the size of a big grape. She sniffs one and looks at it curiously. She has no idea how to eat it, or if it’s even edible. She assumes it must be, since someone brought some into the kitchen, but still… what is it?
Here’s your breakfast post! Talk to Sookie, talk to each other, explain the mysterious kumquat if you can! I’m here all day except for a couple of hours in the afternoon (2:30 - 4:30 Eastern, for the detail-oriented.)
Summary: Sookie makes breakfast. She has a little chat with
Elizabeth Bennet and finds out that she’s finished building her hut and is going to share it with Joan Girardi.
King stops in to get some food to take with him. The lucky bastard has gotten Sword of Desire from the bookcase. At least he promises to lend it to Sookie when he finishes with it.
Ezra Standish drops by for breakfast and makes the troubling discovery that he’s lost several months, apparently while sleeping.
Dale and Sookie talk about what the priorities for the council could be. Sookie makes some jello wiggles for
Billy -- duckies and hearts -- and they go look in the clothes box to see what they can see. So far, nobody has explained to her what kumquats are. Bad!
