I found this rather recently, on a reccomendation . . . my request is weird. Could you consider linking back to the original postings in your journal, for the chapters that got written before the comm existed? The comments were wonderful and I for one love the meta discussion and even the spoilers. I read through everything here, then I found phyrriccomedy's old index post and was using it to go through the comments in detail, but it vanished. ;_;
But thank you for writing this fic; it's very fun and it's taught me a lot of interesting tidbits about American and Russian history. (The buffalo hunt! So weird and cool.) I love this fandom for its historical accuracy. How many fandoms have that?
Oh! The old Index didn't vanish; I just unpinned it from the top of my journal. If you hit the 'the chosen end' tag in my tag list, and scroll down to the first entry, you'll find it there. =D
I'm so glad you're enjoying the story and you feel like you're learning things! Wizard and I have learned heaps. XD
Gosh, we don't get that many fanworks; I think a comm for the comm would be, ah, a little pretentious of us? XD Right now the "let there be fanworks" and the "streamlined content" choices are looking pretty close, so you guys are honestly being no help at all. XD
I'm so happy you're enjoying the story, and please, don't feel guilty for not commenting before now! Nobody HAS to comment--we just like it when people do! TCE is supposed to be fun, for us and for you guys; comment if you want to comment, don't if you don't. We will still love you. =D

POLLS ♥ Oh god I love polls! And ticky boxesss. 8D
England's even an imperialist bastard in another ship's comm! XD Although with the way chairs are sometimes apt to fly in his direction with abandon, I wouldn't mind seeing more myself. Other characters are fine, just as long as it stays primarily Russia/America and still involves them I would be happy with anything you guys are up to :3 Which doesn't really help you at all. But still.

Oh, yeah. It's a Russia/America project. Russia/America is the OTP, here. XD But like, Wizard and I were talking about upcoming chapters, and we were like, well, there's the Hungarian Revolution. Should that go in there? It had an effect on Russian-American relations, but obviously Hungary would be the central player...and what about the Taiwan Strait Crisis? (Or the other Taiwan Strait Crisis? Or the...) That led to an improvement in R/A relations, but it's mostly about Taiwan. Or JFK's visit to Berlin? Defining moment of the Cold War! But...only tangentially about Russia/America.
You get what I'm saying.
It's not so much that we're proposing writing about other countries, as using other countries and their relationships with Russia or America to elucidate Russia and America's relationship. If that makes sense.

I agree with you about the commenting part feeling like an essay. I always feel like an uncultured rube when I can't think of anything deep to say, and I know we don't have to comment at all, but I feel like I need to, you know?

Guys. Guys. Seriously. Don't write long comments if you don't want to write long comments. "SDFLKjadflkasjdf RUSSIAAA AMERICAAAA WHYYY ♥♥♥" -style comments thrill me and Wizard to pieces, because it means you're ENJOYING THE FIC. That's all we care. Seriously. XD
And to be honest? Yeah, we love it when somebody gets excited and wants to share a long comment with us, because then we get excited BACK, but when people force an essay out of a sense of obligation? We can tell. And believe me, it's just as joyless to respond in depth to those kinds of comments as it is to write them. And we get like a dozen of them sometimes, in a single chapter. Try to imagine how tedious that is. You've only got to write ONE long comment you're not really invested in. WE HAVE TO WRITE TWELVE.
If you don't got a ton of stuff to say, please, have mercy on us. XD Chillax and say what you want to say. No more, no less.

I know, but the chapters are so awesome, I almost feel obligated to leave a detailed comment in return for your hard work XD But, since a commnt is a comment, short and sweet is what it shall be from my end from now on.
That's our feeling on it, too, honestly. Like, we'd love to trust all our readers to act like grown-ups who can handle talking about sensitive issues with respect and intelligence.

I wanted to vote for this, because I LOVE reading those lovely comments... but I can also see how the thing can spiral out of control... *sigh*
