With My Pen and My Electric Typewriter ...

I have absolutely horrible penmanship. Not that I haven't seem worse, but it's still pretty awful to try to decipher. This was made even more insufferable by the fact that my mother's handwriting was absolutely beautiful. In fact, one of them main reasons we sold so many personalized craft items was due to how lovely her writing made it appear ( Read more... )

I practiced a lot, so I have nice, legible handwriting. This means I get to be the one to write all the public handwritten things at work "because you're the only one who can write pretty around here."

I wonder what handwriting's going to look like in the next few decades as we type more and more often. Chickenscratch may be the wave of the future!

I would have practiced more but I can't stop pressing too hard whenever I write which makes actually writing painful for me. I've done what I can to correct it but I have yet to conquer this. Typing on computers have really helped me out on this issue.

I have a permanent callus on the middle finger of my left hand because I used to grip the pencil too hard. The bonus is now I can tell left from right!

I think being required to hurry up all the time affected my penmanship. It's pretty scary if I don't slow down and really try. Nicely done.

It's really frustrating when you combine words together because you're trying to write as fast as you hear or think.

I enjoyed this.

For most of my classes at school we were dictated to and we wrote in our books. I'm terrible at writing fast and I was always getting into trouble. Years later I discovered that I actually write really beautifully when I write slowly!

School practices really suck. It's good to know that your penmanship has improved.
