Madison, WI (home of my heart), Boulder CO (where your cool cousin lives), Washington DC (great music scene, tons of culture, your uncle, and Rock Creek Park runs thru it, biking and Metro as transportation options). All the above are good places for foodies. Oh, and did I mention the Bay Area?

I love Washington, D.C. It's probably one of my favorite cities on the east coast.

I grew up in Santa Barbara, and it's a nice place. Not sure how heartily I would recommend it to you - but I do miss it a bit. My gay friends there complain a lot about lack of dating potential. Still, it's very pretty, easy to bike/bus in, and there's lots of good food.
