Reapplying & More!

I decided to take care of my hot pictures and re-application in one fell swoop.

1. Pictures

This one was taken under sodium vapor light (I could be wrong). Its characteristic monochromatic glow eliminates all other colors, making for a very interesting experience. There were no Photoshop effects used other than crop, resize, and reduce quality.

Piazza de San Marco, Venice

Here I am expl-oar-ing the Zürisee.

Sometimes the fashion world needs to appreciate the utter chic of a traditional floppy bavarian hat...

...or even the sizzling style of wearing a Möbius band!

These pictures are at most nine months old. I would create new ones, but my digital camera got stolen along with my luggage on the greyhound. And I wanted to add some fun topless pics too! ::sigh::

2. Hobbies
• I am a physics major at the University of Leipzig in Eastern Germany (former Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Miami).
• I study Sanskrit and Vedic Philosophy whenever I get the chance. In fact I have a copy of the Bhagavad-Gita on my bookshelf, as well as a Teach Yourself Sanskrit book.
• I’ve been a lifelong vegetarian, and although I’m not a health nut, I enjoy healthy food.
• I practice yoga every now and then.
• Although I can’t tolerate most literature, I do enjoy a good non-fiction book. Aside from juicy cutting-edge math/physics books, I’ll read most books related to anthropology, linguistics, art, and architecture (among others).
• I’ve got a special place in my heart for video games.

3. Academics
• 1460 SAT (730/730). OK so it’s really not that stellar, but I’m satisfied.
• 3.1 unweighted, 5.1 weighted (all those AP classes)
• Scored 5 in AP Physics B and Calculus BC, 4 in Studio Art, German, European History
• Scored 6 out of 7 in IB German HL and IB Art HL
• 800 on SAT II Physics

4. Internet
Now that I have dial-up that charges me by the minute, I tend to minimize my time online. This works out splendidly, cause now I can focus on things like studying and enjoying my time in Germany.

5. Subjects
• Physics. It’s the ultimate blend of math and philosophy, and I see only superficial differences between physicists, artists, and theologians. I seem to be leaning towards nonlinear dynamics (aka “chaos theory”) as well as the fundamental issue of stochastic (aka “purely random”) events in quantum physics. Sorry, but I just don’t buy it. God does not play dice.
• Analysis. At first I dreaded this class, but now that I’m far into it, I think it’s amazing how all of math has been proven using simple logical statements. Effing sweet.
• Algebra. The great thing about algebra was that no matter how hard you try, it’s impossible to break these rules. Trust me, I tried.
• Art and Graphic Design. My better works explored the illusion of space on a two dimensional plane.
• German. Been taking it since I was eight. Ironically enough, I learned more english grammar in my german classes than my actual english classes.
• Geography. I actually played this game with a friend of mine where we take turns saying names of countries until one runs out.

6. Miscellaneous
• Worked as a graphic designer for a Microsoft School for one and a half years. Got myself a nifty Powerbook G4 in the process. Yippee Skippy!
• Above statement implies that I am a Proud Mac user.
• Photoshop is such second nature to me, I sometimes think “Edit > Undo” when I make mistakes on my homework assignments.
• Fluent in English, Spanish, German. Know some Sanskrit.
• I learned English by watching Sesame Street.
• I love grammar and linguistics. Why do you think I like Sanskrit so much? It has eight cases, three genders, distinction between single, dual, and plural, emphasis on rhythm and meter, two vocalic r’s and a vocalic l, 3 different s’s, 4 different n’s, more inflexions than you can shake a stick at, and a whole slew of verb formations including periphrastic perfect and desiderivative causative (among several others). drool.
• I proofread my IMs for proper grammar and word usage. I still make mistakes though. Oh well.
• Contrary to what my english teachers have told me, I fully embrace the passive voice.
• I actually like Economics. Though selfish and devious, I find America’s strangling worldwide policies to be very fascinating.
• Movies: Requiem for a Dream, Memento. Among Others: Dogma, The Animated Ramayana, Almost Famous, Moulin Rouge, Lola Rennt, Austin Powers (yeah, shut up).
• Books: Bhagavad-Gita, One Hundred Years of Solitude, Flatland. Among Others: Wired Magazine (OK, so it’s not technically a book), The Little Prince, Anything by Dr. Seuss, Assorted non-fiction books (too many to list).
• TV: The Simpsons, Will and Grace, Spongebob Squarepants. I generally try to avoid TV though. It demands my full attention. I won’t go into the physical and psychobiological reasons why.
• Artist: Dalí. He just loves to fuck with space and time. He’s the Einstein of the art world.
• Architect: Calatrava. He models some of his structures after the human body. After having taken two engineering classes on the loads and supports of rigid structures, I almost wonder how his bridges stay up at all. I almost became an architectural engineer because of this man.
• Music: Hooverphonic, Pink Floyd, Forest for the Trees, Björk, Tori Amos. Among Others: Kronos Quartet, Mazzy Star, Save Ferris, Wolfsheim.
• Genesis: Golden Axe 2. (note the intended absence of certain hedgehogs/echidnas/two-tailed-rodent-creatures)
• SNES: Seiken Densetsu 2 and 3, EarthBound, Bomberman (particularly Bomberman 4), Tales of Phantasia, Super Mario All Stars.
• N64: Yoshi’s Story, Mario Kart 64, Super Smash Bros., both Zeldas. However most of those 3D games like Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie bother me. I prefer the simplicity of 2-D games - Yoshi’s Story takes the cake as the best N64 game.
• GCN: Metroid Prime, Smash Bros. Melee. I own Roy and Marth (the swordsmen). Their big sticks allow for efficient whacking. (hehe)

Etc:
• If I were a millionaire, I would buy lots of good books, and donate them to schools so kids could read more. I watched so much TV and played so many video games when I was a kid. I really wish I had read more.
• I appreciate a good discussion and tend to play devil’s advocate most of the time. Certain assumed arguments include defending religion and faith with regard to the shortcomings of science, the positive social and mental advantages of arranged marriage, and the restriction of freedom of speech in a communist society. Don’t worry. I’m mostly liberal, but I still find some virtues in the conservative way of thought.
• I’ve spent a considerable amount of time on photoshop coming up with the right colors for my journal so that they match with my Mr. Banana Monkey icon.
• I’m one of very few Hispanics who cannot dance well or keep a rhythm, although I am getting a bit better. Regardless, I still enjoy dancing!
• I was sorta thinking of getting a tattoo of Stokes’ Generalized Theorem, although this urge quickly passed like my erstwhile ambitions to get a Yoshi tattoo. Besides, I learned the theorem with singular k-cubes instead of manifolds, so I have a feeling that I haven’t fully owned Stokes yet.
• I admittedly enjoy clothes shopping, particularly at thrift stores. However, I always dress simply, yet manage to rake in some style. That’s probably the only gay thing about me, um, aside from those guys who managed to slip into my bed somehow... :)
• Eyes: -10.0 with slight astigmatism. My glasses are quite thick, and people wonder why i didn’t get the ultrathin lenses. Um... I did.
• I love to cook and modify the hell out of existing recipes. My latest experiment: Homemade Chai.
• My weight is actually less than my IQ. 145 lb. versus 158.
• I’ll conclude with the thing in this world that makes me happiest. And that would be almonds.
