i dont have much time to discuss this, however, i'd like to voice my disgustment with this community. after dandywilber gave up ownership of the_hot_nerds, it had turned 100% on its head. What is going on with the random "lets see how you look" and then having it turn into "look at me im wearing a bathing suit" pictures

I'm sorry you feel so offended by all of this, but try not to take it too seriously... everyone is just having fun...

I don't think there's any real need to be rude or bash the community and it's current owner and mods. This community still holds true to it's form, i feel, only we have a few *additional* posts now, it's not like people have *stopped* posting nerdy things.

I'm going to hold out hope that us nerds can continue to discuss things in rational, intelligent manners, and not start bickering at each other a la (enter name of stupid vanity rating community of the week here)

Perhaps your specific concerns can be addressed when you do have more time to discuss them.

I do not have a six pack, I have what I lovingly refer to as a kegger.

I posted pictures and was not openly mocked.

Ergo, nerdiness is still > hotness.

And as for the whole name of the community issue, I didn't see anyone complaining when all we did was talk about nerdy stuff, therefore you're a hypocrite.

sometimes i feel like that, but nobody takes this too seriously. If we took this seriously we might start persecuting anyone without glasses and a pocket protector, and that wouldn't be much fun, now would it?

Seriously. If you don't have much time, then why did you bother making the post? If I felt the "disgustment" you felt, I think I'd just leave the community and, I don't know, STOP ASSOCIATING WITH IT.

I think this comm is still about nerdiness, and frankly, we're all such nerds anyway that it couldn't really be otherwise. The whole point of the "let's not focus on hotness" bit was clearly so we wouldn't become like every other rating comm out there, letting people in just because they look good. We ALL got in because we're nerds to the max--and I don't think anyone's proposing changing that. But seriously, who the hell cares if we are ALSO physically attractive? Not that I really think I am. We posted pictures like camwhores because it would be fun. No one is forcing you to participate, just like no one forces anyone to participate in the "post your desktop" or any of the other interactions that go on here.

Bottom line: if you don't like what this has become, fine. But please, don't bring the drama.
