I agree with your Asian friend and noobface.
The slim PS2 would've been worth the wait, if you're going to get something that's game related and isn't actually a game (like a system), you might want to get your money's worth. Though you might not use it, the slim PS2 also comes with a modem already installed in it. Not to mention Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistance comes with no fee online service since Hideo is such a good man with striking looks might I add.

Waiting 3-4 months for something that costs 3x as much and could easily be attained in a week isn't the best idea.
