Is it just me, or is it getting busier around here? I suspect that people have finally decided they've had enough of Facebook's manipulation and censorship and they're returning to the place where true, lasting friendships are made and there's meaningful communication, no stupid algorithms and no censorship. A couple of weeks ago, my friends-page ( Read more... )

I've started asking a bunch of people if they had memories of using Live Journal. Hoping to push some to exploring this place again. I'm happy to be back

I'm planning to do the same. Quite a few of my LiveJournal friends from back in the day never deleted their accounts, although they haven't posted anything for years. I wish they would come back.

The only posts on my reading list lately have been from this comm. I am really only still here at all because I have two die-hard friends that haven't moved to Dreamwidth and very occasionally post here. Because the flist goes back only 2 weeks, I often see it blank. *shrug*

And um... no censorship? With the Russian terms of service that say you can't talk about a whole bunch of stuff we take for granted being able to talk about in the US or UK...?

Yes, the inability to scroll back through friends' posts is annoying, and I can't understand the purpose of that change. In fact, I think pretty much every change that's been made to LiveJournal's format in the time I've been on LJ has been detrimental. If they can't fix the things that actually need sorted, I wish to hell they would leave it alone.

As for censorship, all I can say is that I've posted many things over the years on LJ that would have resulted in my account being deleted on Facebook, and I have never experienced any censorship here whatsoever. I think a lot of this Russiophobia stems from Americans who refuse to accept that the Cold War ended thirty years ago, and who are blind to the appalling failings of their own country. I don't believe Russia is any worse than the USA.
