♔[ BIRTHDAY TIME! ] ♔

Mello's been here a long time, and a good portion of that time hasn't been entirely kind to him. And so, on his birthday this year, the Hotel seems finally to decide to give him a little bit of kindness-- or at least the illusion of it, in any case ( Read more... )

Okay, seriously. Someone on the hotel staff really needed a good long lecture or something. Apparently it hadn't been enough for Hisoka to have been delivered as a gift for Mello's boyfriend recently. Apparently, the Hotel would only be satisfied if he was given to both as some kind of dual gift.

If one was inclined to notice that sort of thing upfront, it was obvious that Hisoka wasn't here of his own volition. Long licorice ropes bound his arms and legs behind him in an elaborate web of knots. He was mostly naked, and as sugarcoated as any of Mello's other edible gifts. Chocolate syrup drizzled down his chest in a series of rivers, frosting coated his upper arms and thighs, and even his hair was dusted in powdered syrup. Even his exposed penis was duly adorned, held rigid and firm under a dark chocolate casing.

It felt sticky and horrible. Hisoka hated hotel birthday parties.

It took him a minute to notice Hisoka. In Mello's defense, the view outside really was very nice and it did take up most of the immediate line of his sigh. He looked around the rest of the room first before stepping inside, taking in the set-up until he finally glanced at the bed-- and stared a bit, squinting in the dim lighting ( ... )

Hisoka "mmphed" lightly as Mello approached, thoroughly unable to talk around the brownies wedged tightly enough in his mouth to act as a gag. Though he'd been told to hold still, he squirmed lightly, trying to indicate that he'd like use of his arms, please.

So humiliating. At least Mello seemed enough like himself today.

Right. Gag. ...actually, that was kind of gross.

Mello frowned at the food stuffed in Hisoka's mouth, reached over quickly to tug the biggest brownie free and hoping Hisoka could just eat or spit out the rest. He tossed the other aside, not bothering to try it. Mello still felt guilty enough about the incident when he'd been a monster to want to free Hisoka as soon as possible.

"There."

The licorice ropes, however, wouldn't budge. Mello sighed, exasperated, and assumed they needed sex, as the magical bonds around the Hotel often did. What he didn't realize was that he actually had to eat his way through them.

"Ugh. No luck," he muttered, sitting on the edge of the bed and contemplating Hisoka with some frustration.

Oh, well. Too bad Hisoka. Hopefully, he'll realize that eventually.

Was a hard decision between Matt or L - also hope this approach is ok, let me know if it isn't xD 100percentmail December 14 2011, 04:53:48 UTC
Matt waited behind the door, hoping that Mello would have at least forgotten to check all the points long enough that he could spring his surprise. If anything, his time here told him people were drawn to specific things, things that may just bait them individually. He's seen it happen before and couldn't be more content with the idea of perhaps finding where the hell Mello was in this damn place.

Still quiet as he could be, Matt decided it was time to hop in for the kill- not kill really as it was his brown gloves moving over Mello's eyes to hide the room, "I'll give you ten guesses who it is, the first nine won't count unless you get the tenth wrong."

It's great! And yaaaaay Matt! <3 slavic_sinner December 14 2011, 05:02:00 UTC
Matt was lucky. Mello was still looking around the room, halfway in the doorway still and reluctant to let the door close lest it lock him in here with something unpleasant. He hadn't thought yet to check behind the door, and so, while his head was turned the other way, it was easy enough for Matt to reach out and cover his eyes.

Matt was also lucky that he'd decided to speak right away though. Mello stiffened, gun hand raising immediately, ready to defend himself-- but he let it drop to his side again at the sound of that familiar voice, growling low in his throat in warning.

"Dammit, Matt." He stuffed the gun back into its holster, letting go of the door to tug at Matt's wrist as he turned around to face his friend.

"Bit cheesy, don't you think?"

XD I'm glad I chose properly. 100percentmail December 14 2011, 05:08:57 UTC
Matt had counted on the fact Mello wouldn't react faster than his voice and action at the same time, and if he had, he also trusted Mello's reaction time. Maybe it's a bit too much trust in a simple human, but to him Mello was a bit above the rest. He chuckled hearing the sound of his name and that little curse behind it, this was Mello alright.

He let his hands drop and shoved them in his pockets, unlit cigarette in his mouth lest the smoke give him away from his hiding place, "Cheesy? If you spell cheesy using the same letters as elaborate maybe."

A glove reached and snagged a strawberry glazed in a small bath of chocolate save for a candy stem that represents what the strawberry lost so the thing could be chocolate covered, "Happy Cheesy Birthday," he says. He's not hurt by the comment, by far from that, he was still grinning ear to ear as he offered the snagged treat.

L would have been cool, too, but I'm perfectly happy with Matt~ slavic_sinner December 14 2011, 05:14:17 UTC
Raising a brow at him, Mello scoffs softly, but leans forward to take the proffered treat between his teeth anyway, snapping it out of Matt's fingers. It's actually quite good. He hums softly in approval, a tiny bit impressed.

He doesn't thank Matt, but he does lean forward quickly to pluck that cigarette out of his lips so he can steal a brief kiss.

"No way you set all this up yourself. Sneaky bastard."

When Ky had received the information in a pamphlet on his desk when he woke in the morning, he hadn't known at all what to make of it. He was most certainly not a servant of the Hotel, but the note went into detail about how long the man whose birthday it was had been in the Hotel and what birthdays could be like ( ... )

Unfortunately for Ky, the nice gestures were cause for suspicion-- as most things were, to Mello. He looked at the stranger greeting him, eyes narrowed, and set a hand casually on his gun in silent warning, though he did not pull it from its holster.

"And how would you know anything about it?" he demanded cooly, curious more than hostile. He'd gotten a note; perhaps this one had, too. The Hotel did often pull tricks like that.

He remained in the doorway, shoulder propping open the door to keep it from locking unintentionally. Mello had been trapped far too many times in unwanted situations in the past three years here. He knew well enough to at least do his best at preventing them when he could.

Ky certainly understood about a desire not to let the door close and therefore run the risk of locking, but he also understood that at a certain point he had to trust that taking reasonable precautions would be sufficient.

"The hotel left me a note. Although I'll admit we don't know each other, it didn't seem that there should be any reason you should spend your alone. Or unappreciated," he added with a purr, before straightening up again. "I'm Ky Kiske, since we haven't met."

"Maybe I like being alone, Ky," Mello pointed out, lifting a brow. "But all right. Looks like you went out of your way and everything." He gestured vaguely, giving the room another once-over before looking at Ky again.

"Still gives me absolutely no reason to trust you though," he pointed out conversationally. Ky probably didn't even realize he was already being given the benefit of the doubt by the sheer fact Mello wasn't threatening him and had even let his hand drop from his weapon.

((OOC: OOPS. Sorry, forgot to reply to the ooc note before. I'm all right with either, so whichever you prefer. If possession works better and you want to go for smut, feel free! And feel free to say the food is aphro'd too, if you'd like!))

Nakago had been entirely unsure about the change to this room but had decided rather quickly that he hardly minded it. The layout was nice enough that he could enjoy it. However, he'd been told to come here for Mello's birthday. Something he didn't intend to miss after they last celebration. And these changes would please his lover nicely when he had the chance to see them.

Smiling a little, he went to wander about the room some more and was actually in the bathroom when he heard his lover come in. He'd already decided on what the gift would be that he would give to Mello for this little party. An opportunity he rarely granted anyone. In fact, this man would be the first that it had been offered to.

"Suspicious?" he asked with amusement as he came out and walked calmly over to his lover.

"I had a right to be," Mello pointed out, relaxing immediately as soon as he saw Nakago. He let the door fall shut behind him, no longer feeling the need to keep it propped open when he had no reason to be suspicious anymore.

"Did you send that note, or was this contrived?" He didn't think it had been Nakago; his lover was much more likely to have told him then left him fancy letters, even if he did mean to surprise him.

Mello looked over the display with curiosity. It did look quite tempting, and the atmosphere was surprisingly... romantic, though perhaps that was in part due to the fact he'd found his lover waiting for him here. The candlelight and the fireplace were tasteful touches though, and the view--even if it was fake--was beautiful. Mello smiled, meeting Nakago as he approached and reaching up to pull him in for a quick kiss.

"I was sent a note to come here as well." Dipping down, he met the kiss and pushed some of Mello's hair back from his face. Then he was going over to the decorated table to have a better look at it. The Hotel truly knew how to decorate for a special occasion. He could admit to that.

"I was informed of your birthday. I believe that you should have a gift for the day."

Mello followed him, also eying the food appreciatively. And the cake. He really hoped it was all safe to eat because it looked delicious.

He didn't touch it yet, though, looking back up at Nakago with a smile. "A gift? How generous of you, Nakago."

Break has no idea what brings him here, but he's already got frosting on his fingertips when Mello comes in.

"Hello there."

Grinning- albeit nervously.

That's unexpected. The sight of Break waiting for him makes him start. Mello hesitates, then shuts the door behind him quietly.

"Hi."

"Is it someone's birthday?"

Curious, plucking up a strawberry now.

Oh, he doesn't know? Mello thought the Hotel might have sent him a note or something, telling him to show up here. It had happened before, in his experience.

He hesitates again, then admits,

"Mine."
