I Look So Gay

So - Ashley's dream is officially being a model. I feel so confused on how I should interpret that.

You have to understand - this girl has been raped & abused so many times, that she's in a desperate struggle to be physically accepted. She's beautiful, and its unfortunate she can't just see & know that, but look at her past. Dressing in skimpy ( Read more... )

While your just going by a stereotype of models (just like how crazy vegans give a bad rep to vegans in general, the handful of crazy models do the same to all models,) and there are tons of types of modeling (it's not all about just showing off your body and such,) someone who has low self esteem just can't and should not be a model. It doesn't work- you're getting picked at every day, this is wrong thats wrong, you're not right for this look, yada yada.

And that's my totally random 2 cents.

Appreciate it. She was talking more about doing the Victoria's-Secret-type-shit though, which I just don't think is the most respectful thing to your significant other if you plan on being in a commited relationship, let alone marriage

I get where you're coming from on that, I guess, because the VS Angels are some of the most lusted after women in America, haha. Buuut since they are all like fucking giants, 5'10 and shit, you don't have to worry. I don't think?

But hey! Marriage with a victoria's secret girl can work out, just look at Seal and whatserface! Seal, yeah, you know....that bald black guy. That Seal.

I have to say I disagree with your stereotype of modeling, and like, I don't even want to be a model and I've never had any desire to. (Unless you count wanting to go on ANTM so that their fancy stylists can do my hair)Anyways, I dont think that all models esentially have to be negative. Im tempted to use a fall out boy reference but I wont. Ill just talk about the Teen Vogue I just got. Three beautiful young girls (in their teens) who are the newest hit on the modleing scene. yes, one of them fought anorexia but she's over it, which is a positive image I think. Anyways, I don't think that modeling itself should be a negative thing. There are bad bugs in any senario. You could have an asshole lawyer. Look at the music scene too.

You all have points...we talked about it tonight & I basically just said I have no problem with her going after her dream or the job itself - but that I wouldn't want her just going after the jobs with clothes where her breasts, stomach, and ass are the focus. (ie Victoria's Secret/lingerie type shit) ... and then she felt discouraged and dismissed the entire idea.

I don't know though. She doesn't think it has anything to do with wanting to be accepted, and its just something she "likes doing" - but she's never actually done it. And my theory makes more & more sense if you look at what shes done in her past.

I think basically she wants to do it for all the wrong reasons.
