Blow All Tanks!

Jun 24, 2009 03:18

I've been away for a while. My last post was a year ago tomorrow.

Part of the reason for this little sabbatical has been paradigm shift on multiple fronts.

Since I don't know how long this might turn out to be. . . . )

That's not the same as being true, mind you.

Yeah, there are people in the world of politics who have built entire careers on that distinction.

I have a beer post almost ready to go.

Beer! Beer! :-)

Politics, religion, science, art. . . .

Sweet biscuits, man, that's a whole mess of crazy. I've had exes with a similar reality distortion field, but nothing as extreme as M's Uzi fascination.

Sorry to hear about the kid trouble. =/ I have absolutely no idea what would be an encouraging thing to say at this point, but if you want to grab a beer and talk*, I can listen*.

* - via the LiveJournal, obviously, since I'm not all stalkery.

Not to mention that you live, what, 1500 miles or so away, and that's a bit far to go for a beer.;-)

Yes, well, there is that.

Wait, what kind of beer?

Yes, it might be worth it depending on the beer.

She doesn't eat wood. She chews on it. If she ate it, we wouldn't find the little bits all around the table. I need to make an appointment for her at the doctor's office.

I was not there in The Pit that day. I rather wonder if M would be able to tell the difference between and Uzi and a black powder revolver if you showed them to her.

Picky, picky, picky.

You may be right about M, but I'm inclined to hope I wouldn't have been seeing anyone that stupid!

I'm sorry to hear that your son's not interested in contact right now. I think all you can do is give him time. But perhaps rather than have your most recent contact be the negative message - you could send him a short letter saying that you will understand if he doesn't want to resume contact but he means a great deal to you and if he does want at any point to talk and hear how things seemed to you back then, he;d be welcome.

The fact that he was so angry on the phone shows that he cares a lot about you. Maybe someday he'll be able to listen to your story.

You could even write the whole story down and send it to him for when he is ready.

Right now I think even that much contact might be a mistake. It's not a bad suggestion by any means, but I think even as much as a letter would be pushing it right now.
