The Bridge To Terabithia Movie

So I watched the trailer with some trepidation. Did I have a Kleenex within reach? Was I prepared for heart-rending musical tides as I watch a boy reel from tragedy?

I guess I didn't have to worry about that. No, instead I watched Lord of the Rings meets Hoot. Or something.

Thoughts?

I haven't gotten over the shock of reading the Dark is Rising casting call yet, so I think I'm not going to click on the Terabithia trailer right now. There's only so much damage my childhood can take in a week.

My thoughts were pretty much the same as yours - that trailer threw me for a loop...that was *not* the way I remember this book! Which makes me wonder how many children are going to go into the theater expecting something like Jumanji and leave traumatized for life...shrug...maybe they left that part of the book out (knowing how Hollywood butchers books, I wouldn't put it past them)

Another friend informed me that the film honors the book, if not to the letter, then to the purpose of the story.. so yes, kids expecting light adventure will be disappointed. She's going to love it I am sure.. but I don't like sad stories, so I will probably pass on it. :)
