It's Raining, It's Pouring

Even today, despite the Knights playing football at the stadium, it's pretty chaotic. It's unusual to go more than an hour without hearing sirens. Or a chainsaw. You continually see trucks taking large amounts of greenwaste to the dump. And it just feels... wet. Not the ground. But, even the air, when it's not raining, it just feels wet. We went for a drive around the area today to have a look at what was going on. Branxton golf course (where I usually play) is pretty much completely underwater. There are huge lakes all around Maitland now, and the Hunter river is just about to burst its banks and is expected to flood a fair chunk o' Maitland itself later tonight. Where I live is going to be okay though, so don't worry.

Also I was in Newcastle yesterday - my sister's house, which she just moved into, turned out to have a rather leaky roof and her living room and kitchen were all flooded. Plus there's no power, of course. There were trees down everywhere. Even though I'd already heard about it, I was still surprised to see the extent of the damage.

To echo Wedley's sentiments from the previous entry - even though this is an awful thing to have happen, it's also pretty spectacular. I wish I'd remembered to take a camera with me today - espcially at sunset, it was just an unbelievable view.

I, too, wish I didn't have to work on my brother's renovations and could go photographing... of course, my good camera is STILL being repaired... GRAHGH!

But glad things are looking all clear for you.

There was actually footage of the Knights on the news tonght, with the damaged stadium behind them... I know I personally like the smell of the air after it rains, but this seems waaaayyyy too much of a good thing, to make a hideous understatement.

Hope the power problem gets sorted asap; and that insurance and rescue people can help those with damaged houses and who need evacuating, respectively.
