When I was encouraging the magic snow in my last post, little did I know that two months on we'd be living in Narnia. Winter, begone ( Read more... )

I totally get the first one and the last one, but I have no memory of the middle one.

I started a Buffy rewatch around Christmas and got through season 1 and that was pretty much it. It was probably a mistake to start in that end, but I usually rewatch 4-7 only and I wanted a complete rewatch this time, but instead I got discouraged because I just wasn't enjoying it all that much (I will never understand why the first three season are revered and the last four are reviled. I so prefer the complexities of adulthood to the angst of adolescence).

There's a sort of long cardigan/coat that Buffy wears in Tabula Rasa that is basically nothing like my top at all, but it's so imprinted on my brain that I probably project it onto all vaguely similar items. Your icon! The cropping is just - guh. I've always loved so much the way it's a scene at the back of a scene, like something stumbled upon that you'd almost miss altogether.

I love Season 1 for the glimmerings it has of the show it is yet to become, and also for the not knowing - there is something quite moving about watching characters who don't know what's going to become of them, when you do. Also, I've found that developing a crush on Giles helps make up for the lack of Spike. But I know what you mean. It's only in the later seasons that I love the show hard.

I invariably start at Season 4 (I know I will laugh a lot, but not get my heart broken)

Season 4 is my go-to season for a rewatch for precisely those reasons! I may not have thought it was particularly angst free at the time, but in retrospect it was a picnic. It also has some very rewatchable episodes.

Nice photos. I envy you the ability to wear Buffy style clothes :)

Season 4 is so much fun! At the time there were various off-putting things, like Riley, and Adam, that slightly marred the overall experience. The lovely thing about a rewatch is that you can pretend certain episodes don't exist, or at least happily use the fast-forward to skip to Giles singing and miss the rest (WtWTA, I'm looking at you!). I think that the sequence of episodes from Pangs through to A New Man is one of my favourites of all.

I am currently rewatching Season 1, and some of Buffy's outfits then definitely fall into the category of unwearable!

So many tv shows wouldn't work now because of mobile phones. Or at least a lot of the situations they get into, because now if someone gets stuck they can just call on their phone, or if you need to get a hold of someone. It's funny, because when I watch The Vampire Diaries their use of mobiles is so constant, it would be a completely different show if that technology didn't exist now.

Time has not been kind to the CGI

Haha, ikr? And I can't believe I used to not see the body doubles during fight scenes, because now they're so obvious to me.

Hurrah for the new laptop! I can remember when I got mine from having a shitty desktop that was 7 years old with less than a gig of RAM. Oh, the difference! It was glorious. Windows 8 sounds interesting but I'm happy with my 7 for now, lol.

I know! It's like modern superheroes have a whole skill set missing.

Hee! When I watch back now, I wonder why on earth they couldn't have found someone of vaguely similar build. You'd think a "body double" ought to be that!

I am spending a lot less time tearing my hair out with my new laptop, but am not quite loving Windows 8 yet.

I can forgive Buffy's body-not-so-much-doubles because you know they didn't exactly have the biggest budget and would've had to make do with what they had. It's still funny that I couldn't see it when I was younger though, like how could I not have seen that?

Yeah, learning a new OS can be diffcult. At least when I finally got onto Windows 7 I'd already been using it at uni so I knew how to work it. I've never used Windows 8 personally, it sounds like, erm, fun with the way you've described it lmao.

The Narnia comparison is apt. What's up with this endless winter?

season 4 of BtVS is very comforting in any weather. It's my go-to episodes, too.

Windows 8 is very confusing. we tried it, and went back to older versions.

and always happy to see you! (both as the text and the pictures)

I should stop using this icon. It's probably what's keeping spring at bay!

Windows 8 seems to have been designed to mind read, which is basically the last thing I ever want my laptop to do. It's confusing enough in my head without my laptop joining me there!

It's lovely to see you too. :)
