Rikku was on the prowl, her fingers were feeling particularly sticky and the young thief was craving the thrill of the hunt. She was meandering through the oblivious crowd of people, scrutinizing this or that necklace, ring, watch, and pocket to pick. Nothing seemed particularly challenging however, the people were so consumed with their getting places, the pickings were just too easy. And she was hunting for thrills right now more than anything else ( ... )

Startled, Yuna pulled back a bit, bringing her staff upwards in front of her. She drew in a sharp breath. She blinked once or twice before lowering her weapon. "I... I was looking for the Temple in Mayra, and..." she trailed off. Her first instinct upon being addressed by someone, was and always had been to lower her head. That was what you did with your Superiors, and to do something in the presence of a Maester that was out of line... well, she didn't ever want to be in that position.

Slowly, her two toned eyes creeped upwards. They searched the blonde's face quickly, trying to drink in her image as fas as possible, in case she didn't want Yuna to address her and look at her at the same time.

She was surprised, probably visibly so, when she studied the girl's eyes. And although she wouldn't say it, she was in awe.

That must have been... what Mother's eyes were like...

Whoops. Startling the girl is probably not the best first impression. Neither is placing yourself two inches from the other’s face - personal space was a concept pretty lost to Rikku. She took a soft step back when the girl put her weapon in a defensive pose. She looked a little less harmless now! …But really just a little ( ... )

"Ah -- Ah, I -- " the brunette stammered. It was her initial reaction to shift her gaze away again. It was difficult for her -- metting new people sometimes. Espcially amongst the Temples. If one of the Priests were to remark on the unusual colourings of her eyes and her heritage was found... There would be no where else for her to go.

She felt guilty, thinking those thoughts though. For a pure-blooded Al Bhed, things must have been so much harder. The admiration that she had for her late Father seeped back into her spine. He had known that the Al Bhed were ordinary people. He hadn't descriminated. And although it had been drilled into ther by the teachings... she wouldn't hate the Al Bhed.

She straighted up then, a smile making itself known on her lips. Thoughts of Braska before he left for his pilgrimage flew back to her. She would have his confidence, too. She would make sure of it.

"Yes," she smiled, "two colours. But that doesn't quite match the uniqueness of your own..."

Rikku felt delight pinch her as the girl seemed, at least somewhat, open to the idea. She’d show this girl how to fly someday - she was sure of it. A grin curved her lips, “I sure can, all you gotta do is say the word.” She was taken off guard by the other’s pause, her steps faultered as she squealed to a halt herself ( ... )

That, had her cousin been taken in by the tribe, she would have been welcome. “If you’re lord Braska’s daughter…” She smiled, unable to keep the excitement and elements of joy from her voice. She had always wanted to meet her, and here she was! Right in front of her, and they hadn’t even known, “Then you’re my cousin ( ... )

"I don't... Oh my goodness," Yuna seemed to be caught in a sea of emotions. How did one greet new family? Surely, Yevon had smiled upon her at the start of her pilgrimage. Now, the essentials in her life had been completed! To be able to start her way on the road to Zanarkand... that was the next step.

The brunette's bring smile seemed to wither a little, although it remained in tact. She just appeared to add a bit of sadness to it. Yes, there would be no regrets down the road to achieve the Final Aeon, but...

No, she couldn't think about that right now.

Happiness returned to her grin as she spoke again. "I can't believe it, Rikku, I am so glad that I had the chance to meet you. I'm -- " she paused, and bowed again, "just sorry that we didn't have the chance to before this. Please forgive me."

The shorter blonde was bounding in circles around her overwhelmed cousin. With her circles came delighted giggles, and as her counterpart had trouble finding words the talkative thief had no trouble filling the silence. “First, you gotta tell me all about how you grew up, and stuff! And then we gotta radio pops, oh! And brother will want to meet you too! And we’ll plan a trip for them to come get us ( ... )

Rikku bit her lip as the other girl kneeled before her, the corner of her eyes creased as she fought to keep her tears from escaping. The bouncy, chattermouthed girl had been struck still and dumb, and she remained so as she struggled with an inward battle. Did this girl value her life so little that she was willing to lay it down so early? Or was it,that she just cared so much for others ( ... )

Her heart ached. She didn't know what to say in order to ease the girl's fears. There were only so many times you could tell the ones you loved that it was all right -- you weren't afraid to die. If it meant that Spira could be free, it was all right if she wasn't there.

So long as... everyone else could enjoy it.

But Rikku's words -- were something that she hadn't been expecting. The two-toned gaze widened, a mixture of surprise and disbelief shining through. "You would... be my Guardian, Rikku?" she breathed.

Al Bhed or not, Rikku was family! And Yuna -- didn't have the kind of time to sit down and consider if Yevon would disagree or not. You know what, what did it matter? If Rikku could go against the masses, than so could she!

"I would -- I would be so honoured!" she stuttered, her head falling into a bow, even from her place on the ground.
