my cat does that clawing thing (even though she doesn't have claws), and it doesn't help that (a)I'm allergic to cats and (b)I have 2 other cats that do the same thing (both of which have their claws).

i read somewhere that cats do that to mimic the pressing of their mommy's teets to get more milk. makes sense...good enough for me!
