yay mars volta... but also... i like jay-z... but i think you're mishearing the lyrics, he talks about being on to the rap magazines who want to use his image on the cover just to make money, and says that "money cash hoes" isn't all that there is to his music, as some critics have said, but he says when you grow up really poor that's what you want when you get rich. jay-z has two things going for him that i think deserve some consideration 1. his rhymes are formulaic, and they are all written in meter. 2. hip hop is about "flow", which is the way you navigate through your lyrics so that they are written and rapped fluidly. this is why biggie is so celebrated. jay-z has flow. yeah, that was a bit of a rant...sorry.
you don't have to apologize. but I still disagree. every time i see the cd he collaborated on with Linkin Park, a little part of me dies. i'll stick with my N.E.R.D. and Non-Phixion for now.
Hey, who was that artist or group that you played for me two years ago that was hip-hop and I was surprised because I liked it? Was it one of the ones you just mentioned?
That was a long time ago, but I would guess it was either N.E.R.D., or maybe the Pharcyde. Hmmmm. I actually remember that exact night, and playing you songs, but not what I was listening to at the time. Sorry.
