God, this is wonderful. It's heartbreaking and gorgeously written. Everyone is perfectly in-character. I confess, I really am at a loss for words. Poor Lestrade!

I do have to say, I loved this bit: Business as usual. Nothing ever comes to a definitive close between him and Sherlock. Not their arguments, not their association. I also very much liked the final scene, and maybe this new era in his life could work.

Beautiful.

Yey, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I haven't really written that many Lestrade fics but I'm quite focused on emotionally damaging him at the moment. And most importantly, I'm glad you think everyone is in character. Thank you so much for commenting, it means a lot coming from an author I admire so much :)

Oh, thank you! That means a lot. And I know what you mean about emotionally damaging Lestrade - it's actually quite enjoyable! :) I hope you write more stories with him, as you're so good at it!

All i can say is agree with the above comment.

Though in perticular i love how lestrade realises the connection between john and sherlock.

Oh, Lestrade - you deserve better than Sherlock unawakened by John.

Lestrade does deserve so much better but he's just a self sacrificial martyr. We can only hope John will work his magic. I'm glad you liked it, though :)

Wonderful look at Lestrade's and Sherlock's relationship and a logical extension of Sherlock's assistance and interference. I do like how John has changed the mix, too. Lovely story -- thank you!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I love looking at the relationship between Sherlock and Lestrade because there's just enough hints in the show to assume there is a deep past there. That and I might be addicted to emotionally damaging Lestrade at the moment. But I love John as well so had to include him as a voice of sanity. Thank you so much for commenting! :)

So beautifully written, you've got the characters down wonderfully. I can't help but feel sorry for Lestrade, he does have to put up so much for Sherlock.

Wonderfully written, hauntingly beautiful. I want to hate Sherlock for the impact on Lestrade, but like him, I can't.

Well done. Looking forward to reading more of your work.

Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked it. Like in all cases, Sherlock is a bit of a tosser and he seems even more so with Lestrade. I just can't help but see Lestrade as someone who has been completely weighed down by Sherlock, the poor man. Thank you for commenting, I hope to continue :)
