I know it's stupid to jump into this, but I have to agree with Blaine and Torre. This whole world will and does shove the notion that drugs and alcohol are "normal" down our throats everyday, and the only way to combat that is to shove our ideology back. Being passive is not an option. Straight-edge carries with it the badge of truth, honor, integrity, and heart. That sounds pretty militaristic, and it can be at times (hence 'hate-edge' kids...), but it's hard to keep up your moral when the whole world beats on you
