I've been reading VK for 3 years and going back 3 years ago and thinking I'd still be reading it would shock me. I don't relish it, but I know we've got at least another 2 years to go. I spend a lot of my energy on the Vampire knight wikia and spend less time on the forums than I used to.

Favorite Character and why?
Zero, superficially, I like his look best, his silent protective nature and while I don't like a lot of tsundere characters, who are tsundere for the sake of being tsundere, I love Zero's, its fitting for his situation. I feel for everything he's been through and his constant struggle.

Favorite Pairing and why?
Zeki naturally. I love the friendship, companionship and balance. I love that they care about each other and need to help the other. I love that they worry for each other. I love the unyielding bond between them.

How'd you get into Vampire Knight?
I refused to pick it up at first because I didn't like the art. But I'm always looking for love triangles and I was eventually drawn in.

Preferred ending?Zeki ( ... )

You know, I don't think I knew that you didn't like the art originally. XD Or if I did know, then I have forgotten. XD You learn something new(ish) every day. XD

Favorite Character and why?
Uh, Zero? Lol. I can often be heard bemoaning that if Zero wasn't in this story, I wouldn't be reading it. XP~~~ I thought he was a typical tsundere at first and wasn't particularly interested in him, but eventually the fact that he's the one voice of reason in the story won me over, and then his devotion to Yuuki. XD

Favorite Pairing and why?
Zeki, no doubt. Their bond is one of the strongest I've ever seen in a manga. They literally make each other better characters and light each other up on screen. That's some darn strong chemistry. The lengths they're willing to go to for each other is pretty amazing, and the unbreakable nature of their bond is pretty awesome too.

How'd you get into Vampire Knight?I was reading the Viz magazine Shoujo Beat back when it was still running, and Vampire Knight replaced Kaori Yuki's Count Cain. I hated it for a good fifteen chapters precisely because of that. XD (Inferior art to Yuki-sensei's and juvenile story in comparison to Cain.) But somehow or another ( ... )

They literally make each other better characters
I think this has to be my favourite reason. It makes me look forward to Yuuki's development instead of cringing and worrying what stupid thing she might do next.

bahah XD

I don't know the actor, but he plays Kay in the series Camelot, so I'm guessing he's British. XD *looks up* Peter Mooney. Hm, he definitely suits having a beard.

Favorite Character and why?
Zero, without question. When I first picked up VK, I was struck by how cardboard Yuuki and Kaname were: Kaname was the cool and mysterious bishounen, while Yuuki was the bumbling, but ever-cheerful girl. I’d seen these two occupy the lead roles of a thousand other shoujo mangas, and while I didn’t hate either character, I certainly didn’t find them interesting or sympathetic. On the other hand, Zero had a psychological complexity to him that I was instantly drawn to. I usually dislike overly tragic characters, but Zero was written in a way that I felt like I understood exactly what he was going through, and I really wanted to see him find happiness. While Hino has done a better job in fleshing out Yuuki and Kaname since the beginning of the manga, Zero remains to this day, in my opinion, the best written character in VK and still the character whose thoughts I find most interesting, and whose well being I care most about.

Favorite Pairing and why?Zeki, also without question. What can you say about ( ... )

Yay for like-minded people. :)

I always thought "emo" was an unfair label for Zero. Is anyone who's experienced emotional distress automatically emo? Nice way to write him off. To me, an emo is someone who doesn't have to be sad and either takes their sadness to excess, or is self-indulgent about it. --Like the middle class kid who comes from a good family and acts like their life is the worst burden anybody's been saddled with. Or really, Kaname who had a bunch of good, sincere people (Ruka, Ichijou, Aidou) willing to crawl over broken glass just to be his friend, yet pushed them all away in order to wallow in his own loneliness--and saddle Yuuki with the entire burden of it ( ... )

Yah, "emo" should apply where someone's response is exaggerated emotionally of inappropriate proportions to the actual issue.

Kaname going on about being a horrible blood sucking monster drives me nuts considering how much he actual revels in being a vampire. Making unhappy moonfaces about being alone for 10 years when he *was* with her and pushed away those that could be friends. Kaname never actually lost her, her forgetting him as a vampire and who he was, just still hero worshipping him and adoring him...well, I suppose her hero worship was annoying ;) If he did not deliberately push his sins onto her, he should have realised what he was doing to her by saying all those horrible sins were to protect her. If Kaname had reasons, it would be nice to actually see them rather than being forced with suppositions of cause from kanakis.

The good thing about Zero is that he changes, his response has changed depending on what his circumstances are.
