I wish I knew just what to say in here. I wish I was overflowing with creative thought. I wish it were possible for me to plan out what to tell my listeners and have some sort of reply back to your comments on what I say. I wish I had something to say on posts of others ( Read more... )

I used to be creative too. Recently, we were watching B-grade horror films and a preview for some movie called "Wristcutters" came on. I've never heard of this movie in my life, but I wrote the plot for it years ago - and had the old idea written down in my idea box to show John and AJ as I flailed around the living room over it. The fury! The rage! The heartbreak! Utter, utter fail. But at least I know my idea could've (DID) win at Sundance.

Anyway, I dunno. The creativity seems to seep out of my head at an increasing rate; the older I get, the less there is. I've written this post before, so I know where you're coming from. Kinda. Sorta. It'd easy to explain by saying I just feel blank a lot.

I don't know about you, but for me I think it's hard to be happy and inspired at the same time. At the loss of creativity I've gained complacency.

(as far as books go... online book club. For real. I just joined one, and now I can't stop reading anything I pick up. And! And and and! We have recipes to bake the night we meet. -happy dance-)

I find simply walking around your local bookstore, or even better, a library can often cure the "not wanting to read" right now thing. My current favorite place is the social interests shelves of the Nonfiction section, surprisingly.

Also, creativity is a cruel and flighty mistress, sometimes it's just best to give it a rest and hope it comes back sooner then later. Seeing as you are taking classes that require you to write, it's probably not really an option which is difficult, in which case I would say, write what you can to make a good grade and hang in there.

However, I'm currently in a rut, creativity wise, so I'm not much to talk.

creativity takes many forms. when I get stifled in one way I find other things to do. sometimes its cooking without a cookbook, or making a campfire, drawing or plunging into a pile of legos.

There are a few forms of art therapy out there if you are interested in them. one of them is a book of self help called : "the artist's way" that I have seen be very successful for a number of people who make their living creativly.

I say this calls for one of those days you just ride around, listening to something like magic carpet ride and some old favorites or not favorite at all that you haven't heard in a long time; just u and the radio for a while. [Even better just sit at home all alone with a bottle of Duplin wine in front of the radio and get out some old cd's until you decide to spin in circles laughing. just be careful!]
