The Confederate Flag

I wrote this in response to an article that suggested that those who display the Confederate flag in the name of pride in their heritage are full of it, an attitude I've seen a lot of places.As someone who grew up in the South I am quite familiar with the use of the Confederate flag as a symbol of pride. The down-to-earth people is one of the things I enjoyed the most about the South while travelling. Pragmatic, uncomplicated, polite.

Sure people point to uneducated redneck hicks as a problem, but to those people, you need to look at your own backyard: redneck equivalents exist in every culture.

For sure. It just tends to be much more out-in-the-open in the South.
