He stopped in front of Rick and proceeded to show him that he had written something on the paper. It said something like... Rick is the only person in his 20 years of teaching that got all of the aspects of that ( Read more... )

I never enjoy it as much as I should when something like that happens with me. I'm always thinking,
"Really?
...I'm the only one who got it right?
...but it wasn't that diff-
...I mean, thanks, but...
.....I really didn't..?"
Which brings me to this question:

Does Mr. Miller ever feel embarrassed by this sort of recognition, too?

By the way, I'm working on that MIDI problem Dorothy mentioned, and I'm having a little trouble with a couple of things. I have a good four-track MIDI of the opening song from Sunday in the Park, and it has all these tempo changes. As soon as I try to take out the vocal part, (which I do, note by note, in Finale,) all the tempo changes are erased.
So I tried to convert the MIDI into an MP3 or a WAV on AcidMusic, and the tempo changes were all erased again as soon as I pasted the track in!
I know I'm going about this the wrong way, but I can't figure out how to fix it.

Sorry, I just had to vent about that! It's so frustrating!

I asked rick about this and he didn't understand why you had to take out the vocal part one note at a time. He uses finale also. Also, you can't convert the file on Acid music. You have to record it as a WAV or MP3 first. You should call Rick, if you still have his number. He would be able to explain it better.
