I suppose it's quiet for the moment. A question, then. About alcohol.

Why do you drink it? Who do you drink it with? And when did it start becoming a social...obligation?

Why- fine.

But you're not going to do this on your own. I'm not sure I trust you to keep your promises yet.

No. Why would I ask if I had?

That's several questions, actually. I drink it to fall asleep sometimes. Or to forget... things. Sometimes both reasons are the same. I usually drink alone. It's not a 'social' obligation for me, but I'm not really understanding the question.

I mean more...when someone asks you for a drink, what does it mean?

That usually depends on the person asking. It could be just a friendly social thing. I wouldn't consider it an obligation, really. Just like any invitation, you can turn it down.

But what is the significance of the drink? I suppose I'm asking because it doesn't seem pleasant.

It's not a social obligation for me. But usually if I drink enough to actually feel the affects, I really trust the other person I'm with. So that talking to them isn't completely nerve-wracking.

I think it became social thing the moment we apes realized that fermented fruit might make us worry less.

Dang notifs! I'm sorry I missed this :c thebestnose September 15 2011, 12:03:56 UTC
I'm sorry...apes? Fermented fruit?

Is okay! My LJ Login is being a nightmare, as is my internet. most_feared September 15 2011, 21:48:16 UTC
Humans are a type of ape. We're actually closely related to chimpanzees.

And a lot of alcoholic drinks are made from fermented fruit. It's probably what we first discovered intoxication of an alcoholic nature from.

Same! Ugh to it. thebestnose September 15 2011, 22:10:31 UTC
Really? How do you know that?

I mean about the relation to chimpanzees.

It's the remembering part that I'm terrible at.

I'm fine. Too many things happening at once.
