Since robotic technology is common in the Order it stands to reason that Komui and the science division would eventually invent a basic communication device. Upon arrival and after being proven innocent, all newcomers would be issued a device. It would be small and handheld, capable of text communication along with audio and video capabilities. It would not be as advanced as the golems however. All characters are to keep the device close at hand at all times in case of emergency.

Another option players can use to communicate are golems. Golems may be used for VIDEO and VOICE posts/replies only. The golem has no keyboard attached to it, and cannot process text commands. However, because the golem does not need to be handheld to relay messages, this allows more freedom of movement; a wider camera view, perhaps from a place not normally accessible, or perhaps catching bits of a conversation not really meant to be heard.
Characters, both from the world of DGM and coming into it, have the option of using one of the devices, or both. Communicators are issued to each and every incoming character standard, but golems are an option to be decided upon by the player.
What about if my character doesn't speak English?
Because english is the accepted language or the Order, both canon wise and in this game, all characters will know english open arriving at the Order. This is because of this. Komui's time machine, as well as creating the rip in the space time continuum that brought everyone to this world, somehow also absorbed everyone's knowledge [Or gave everyone knowledge of the english language], that way everyone can understand one another. Needless to say, this doesn't mean your character can't speak in their native tongue. Nor does it mean that they now have a major in english language. Miscommunication is bound to occur. However, the option to use the communicator as a translation device is also available for those not comfortable with their character suddenly knowing english.
Will the Noah be able to monitor the Order and vice versa?
Yes.
Considering the game is taken from a point where Exorcists have been killed by Noah, it is likely that their bodies would have been searched for anything valuable. Fragments of Innocence, and in this case the communicator. Taking this opportunity, they have replicated the device and will have access to the Order's network. Of course, this works both ways. The Order would also have access to anything the Noah post. However, this means that unless a post is specifically filtered, the Noah will be able to see it. So be careful what you say and how you say it...
Edit as of August 3rd, 2010: Now that missions have opened and characters are out and about in the real world, this can lead to some physical Noah and akuma interaction. Noah have the oppurtunity to come out and find the characters, attacking them and taking any goods, such as Innocence, and also information important to the Order. This also makes the Order more suspectable to attack, seeing how Noah can gain information and infiltrate the Order.
What character can I NOT play?
Edit as of November 9, 2010: Characters that have formally been deceased in fandom-canon may be brought back to life via the use of the rip in the space-time continuum brought on by Komui's time machine. However, characters on the above list are still unplaybale, as they have certain circumstances attached to them that would render them unplayable. The list of playble deceased characters is as follows:
Anita
Chomesuke
Daisya Barry
Eliade
Kevin Yeegar
Skin Boric
Suman Dark
Characters that have died before the canon invasion of European Headquarters that are unplayable characters, or that are being played by the mods, or that are unable to appear in game for any given circumstances include:
The Earl (NPC)
The Fourteenth
Komui Lee (NPC)
Lala
Mana Walker
Young Alma Karma
Young Kanda Yuu
Edit as of August 3rd, 2010: As the game has now taken an alternate universe route, bypassing the invasion caused by Lulubell and reopening its doors to missions, along with Exorcists Lavi, Lenalee Lee, and Kanda Yuu regaining the use of their Innocence. Also, Arystar Krory is no longer in a coma. What this means is that characters from beyond Lulubell's invasion in the canon timeline are now available for play. Such would include the Third Exorcists, the Noah Wisely, Exorcist Timothey Hearst, and so on.
