Ha ha, I gave up dessert for lent again this year, so when I got home after midnight on Saturday I had some cocoa. ;D it was good. It was weird, I didn't even want a chocolate chip cookie today at work, I had an oatmeal raisin cookie instead. But it's good to have sugar again.
Mom doesn't get home from Japan until next week :(

What's your mom doing in Japan?
I know just what you mean! I'm so sugared out. I got a double-crisp bunny which I've been working on and loving. But yeah, anytime I bit into something sugary that I didn't immediately enjoy, i spat straight out. I just felt like... after all that, why abuse my body with something I wont even enjoy? Hrmm. I'm such a freak! lol.

If original film exists, having never gone through pixellation, shouldn't an HD print be possible? Consider the VHS copies some of us have, or even the (regular) DVDs out there. Are they not missing some information that the HD version would have, assuming they work with an original print?

Given the resources of the Disney company, and the importance of Sleeping Beauty to their history, I find it perfectly reasonable to assume they have well-preserved film and original artwork to work with ( ... )

According to Wikipedia and IMDB, there is no record of who voiced the queen! I bet someone could totally do voiceprint analysis of other films of the era and determine once and for all who that is. Man! I wish I had the money and time to do that myself! Also, the expertise.

But I stand by my earlier outrage, young lady!

If I ever find out I'll let you know. I wonder why they dont mention it. Is it not in the title sequence of the film itself? It's got to be!
I was mentioning to my mom that Maleficent was the scariest bad guy in all of the disney films.
I'd say all films altogether, but No Country for Old Men blew that score out of the water.

HD implies High Definition

Yes. However, the letters HD by themselves are basically meaningless, and could refer either to HDTV or to HD-DVD. It's worth mentioning that the product you're talking about is being released only on Blu-ray Disk, so the HD here probably refers to the image and not the technology.

It implies that at some point, a High Definition camera was used. Or a High Definition tv that you are viewing through.

No, and kinda. All it actually says is that the image contains a bare minimum of 720 lines of information in each frame. You can watch HD content on a Standard Definition TV, and the player should downsample the image into 480i (240 lines of information per frame). In order to actually WATCH HD, yes...you'll need an HDTV.

But HD implies that it was FILMED on HD equpitment.Absolutely not. Each of the animation cells drawn by the Disney artists was shot with a 35mm film camera (which was later optically enlarged to 70mm). Each frame of 35mm film negative contains about 6000 lines of information. After printing ( ... )

Don't you think it would have been worth them telling you what form of HD they ment? After all, if it's an HD-DVD, and the ONLY way you can get what you want out of it is to own a Blue Ray disc player, or an HD DVD tv, don't you think that's worth including in the advertisement? Otherwise people will purchase this product only to discover that they are getting nothing out of it ( ... )

That's right... our old classic version of Sleeping Beauty can now be yours for 25 or 30 on blue ray disc with the remarkable change of a new shade of green.

Err...you're watching a 330 line analog broadcast commercial on a TV that can display somewhere between 250 and 400 lines of information, and you're trying to make a judgement about the image quality of a 1080 Blu-ray release? I don't think that's kosher.

Don't misquote me. I meant dollars. Not lines.

If I may, I think he's saying that there's more of a difference than the new shade of green. The problem is that on your crappy paleolithic tv, there's no way to genuinely render the difference, and so the advertisers do the best they can.

I really really really do realize this. Infact, somewhere in the post I've gone so far as to attempt to point that out! This is why I'm saying, what on earth is the point of doing a 'before' and 'after' shot, if the viewer can't even see it on their analog set. They are trying to say 'this is what it will look like on hd' despite the fact, that isn't what it will look like on an hd tv. That isn't what it will look like on an HD style dvd, and that is, infact, why it's so infuriating. You guys are missing the boat. The boat is in the water. It has sailed. It's engines are at full steam. You are still on the dock, squabbling about the time of departure! I PROMISE you, I got it. And I promise you, I'm not so daft as to think the only difference is the green.

Thank you for trying to bridge the gap in conversation but... Goodness.

I don't have time to run down to Oregon before I fly. I wanted to see her sometime in the past month, so we could have a day in Portland together, but with a lack of having my own car (and having to borrow my moms) I wasn't able to arrange that. I did see her once, which was nice, a few months ago. But I havn't made it down since, which I was disappionted about. She only has a few days off ever week, so its been a bit of a challenge to arrange.
