Timing is a funny thing.

My sister spoke with a few people she's working with on this short film a friend is doing and they were interested in helping out. I have one of their email addresses now, though she forgot to email me or write down the other one last night. One of them is an art director and the other is an audio engineer. I also met a friend's boyfriend at the ( Read more... )

Your view of Hellboy 2 and mine are pretty much exactly the same; the special effects and the monsters were beyond awesome (that whole area under the bridge, the Troll Market or whatever, that was fantastic) but the story left a lot to be desired.

They set it up pretty perfectly for a sequel, at least...maybe whoever writes the next one will realize that while eye candy is cool, most folks who read comics (and watch comic book movies) want a good story, too.

Thinking about it more, the reason I felt it was lacking was that they jumped around a lot from thing to thing without any real focus or resolve. The fact that Hellboy exposed the bureau to the public should have been a huge thing, but instead it was nothing more than a plot device for Hellboy himself to deal with his own insecurities, for example.

Dude, not having a job is awesome and sucks at the same time. While you feel good about yourself for accomplishing anything, you still look at the day as a whole and go,

"What did I even accomplish?"

That MIGHT just be me.

So is this the Beyond Control show you're doing? I REALLY need to pay more attention to your posts, I'm so sorry. But yeah, even though I haven't officially obtained a new job yet, I can already see problems with scheduling. I don't even know what my schedule will be, and I'm afraid of new scheduling.

Also, because the old job turned me COMPLETELY nocturnal (I had just FINALLY gotten used to it, and now I don't HAVE the damn thing anymore) that has definitely but a cramp in my ability to accomplish things during the day.

You know, my girlfriend's in MN right now visiting family. I wonder how far she is from you. Good luck with everything! Tell Heather I said hi.

Yeah, it was nice sleeping in and feeling lazy at first, getting stuff accomplished around the house sometimes, but it eventually just got to be like, "What the hell do I DO all day?" Plus I had a similar thing where working at Activision got me on a really screwed up schedule. It was hard to get back on track.

It's actually not Beyond Control, no. It ended up being something I didn't really have my heart in without Lucas to work on it with. I'm hoping to pull off Chase Dakota as a series instead, but I might run into problems with some of the potential special effects. As in, need someone to do them for free. But I'll need people to bounce ideas off of if you're up for it once things get rolling no matter what project we work on.
