I've been a fan of Pedro Almodovor's for some years now, going back to the late 1980's. Watching 'Volver' today reminded me of so many reasons why I enjoy his films so much and watching the special features on the two-disc set really hits home to me how much of his own personality makes it to the screen ( Read more... )

Have you seen 'Tell No One', a french film on Sky Indie occasionally. It's great. Great I say. Check out Roger Ebert's review

Not a lot, in between jobs at the moment. What's Dave up to? Mad about this recession or wha, one of the lads who works at an off-licence near me was telling me they get around thirty cvs a week looking for part-time work. I remember Dublin in the early eighties, what a shithole.

Have you seen Batman yet, it's meant to be quite good.

Yeah- I saw it there last week- v good. Dave's starting at Trinity in Sept and writing a piece for a book I'm doing about Dublin- which you're also welcome to contribute a piece to if you're at all interested.

ANd yeah, it's certainly interesting, seeing how things are levelling off from the excesses of the celtic tiger crap.
