[Tony shakes himself awake, looking blearily around him. He'd had some type of strange dream. He had still been in Mayfield, but he had been with friends from home. Pepper was in his living room, drinking that godawful tea she likes so much for some reason, and Rhodey was sitting in the kitchen with his ( Read more... )

Just pick one and get it over with.

[Bazett herself does not care for the color of her clothing. Although if she were given a choice, she would not wear the garish clothing she currently has on, she has been forced to wear it out of necessity.]

Much obliged.

[Hm... it'll be tough, but maybe I can win her over after all. Very, VERY carefully...]

[As they walk down the streets, Bazett wonders if she has made the wrong choice after all. She has no experiences with dates, and this man seems to be trying to make everything as romantic as possible. If she is not careful, then he could easily take advantage of her.]

[However, she has already given her word and it is too late to take it back. That is why she will silently guide him to the Cosplay Cafe. If he wants any conversation, he will have to initiate it.]

[Tony glances around him, taking in the sights he hasn't yet seen. ...Not too many things worth looking at. Every house is the same, and all the stores are bland and uninteresting. He peers at the side of Bazett's head, trying to catch her eye with silent willpower.]

[She notices, but tries desperately to ignore him. However, she finally succumbs after a period of awkward silence.]

You should...pay attention to the directions. Perhaps someday you will actually have to take a romantic interest to the cafe...

[Yeeesh. Her words, like blades...! But Tony's determined to unlock the full potential of his charm, so he has to stay strong! He rarely has to try so hard. As usual, whenever he's pushed by a difficult obstacle or seeming impossibility, he turns it into a fascinating game...]

R-right, right. I got it, don't worry. SOOO... um, got any hobbies?

...Why would that be of any interest to you?

[However, she decides to not be rude. After all, this man is trying his best to be friendly.]

Still, to answer your question, I like sparring, board games, and cards.

Oh-HO! The lady likes cards? We have something in common, then! Nothing like a good game of blackjack, poker or asshole to get a party started. Not much of a board game man, but I don't mind a few rounds of Risk, maybe Monopoly.

Yes, I do like all of these games...Except for "asshole." What is that game, anyway?

Oh, asshole is GREAT. The aim of the game is to discard all the cards in your hand. But you can only play a card that is higher than the one previously played in terms of value. You can also play the same value card in a different suit in certain situations. There are also siderules: any time you play a 3, the board is cleared. Play a 4, and everyone has to drink. If you can't play a turn and have to pass, you also drink. There are a few others, but you get the idea. Tons of fun.

...

[It actually sounds like her kind of game.]

You certainly make it sound fun. If we both have time...

[It takes her a while to get the second part of the sentence out.]

...then perhaps you could show me?

[If Tony was a cartoon character, you would see dollar signs where his pupils should be.]

Anytime. Anytime at all. I love playing it.

[ALL OF HIS CONCENTRATION is used to keep from firing out another pick-up line or flirt.]

Thank you. I look forward to learning about the game. It would have to be after I figure out how to reverse Mayfield's newest antic, though. I am afraid that most of my time will be taken up by investigations until then.

[Tony glances at her again, from the corner of his eye.] Never business, always pleasure. Well, when things bog you down, you'll know where to find me.

...Actually, you don't, I never told you. Nor do I know where to find YOU, for that matter.

[She ponders if it would be a good idea to give her address to the man. Finally, she decides that she would tell him. He does not seem to be overly dangerous. Besides, he was also offering to tell her the location of his house. It would be an equivalent exchange.]

I live on 1130 Taylor Road. What about you?
