I just got back from Otakon, one of the largest anime conventions I've been to. I took lots of pictures of great costumes, including The Monarch and Gannondorf. I was part of a Fire Emblem group. Don't really know why, but I joined a bible study group on the base. Commander Pinner had been trying to arrange one for a long time, and it finally happened. Only four people were there, but it was nice. There was a Seaman, a Petty Officer, a Junior Officer, and a Senior Officer, all in one group. I spoke to a Marine Science Technitian who is stationed at the base. I asked her a few questions about the rating that I want to go for. It turns out that MSTs can go for a position called Boarding Officer. I would get to be in charge of a boarding team. Tomorrow some officers from the district are coming on board to give the ship an inspection. In preparation, some of the guys decided to make the ship look safer by posting "Eye Procection Required" signs all over. Must be like 20 of them. Despite all the critisisms I've been getting, I got some positive feedback from the ship's commanding officer. Apparently, I'm a good public speaker.
