A beautiful and suspiciously mild morning. Had a bit of FOMO at missing the Christmas Day parkrun but cheered by pictures of my chums completing theirs around the country. Another enjoyable non-parkrun run. Slightly faster again. Pleased.

Unsurprisingly poor sleep but a particularly spectacular sunrise. Didn't want to miss Andy so hovered outside his house. Had meant to get up in time to meet Andy on his way up to work. Failed at that but set off on a morning run anyway, cold but beautiful out.

Sunday 22nd December:

Ran the Bervie loop ever so slightly faster than previous effort. A relief after yesterday's struggle. Andy sent a message saying Kate was arriving around lunchtime so joined them then. Was very much expecting Andy to bale out this morning so was heartened and impressed when he rapped on the door at 08:15. Somehow he has managed to do 18 parkruns - all of them different - almost entirely by supporting me on my visits home. Thanks bro.

Friday 20th December:

Could have done with a lie-in but Mum's cleaner Irene was due at 09:00, so I struggled to make myself human. She arrived at 08:45 as I was still running around in my pants.

The routine here is Craig drives Mum to Inverbervie and she reads a book by the sea while he fiddles on his phone.

Thursday 19th December:

Awoke feeling not nearly as bad as I should have. Forced myself out for a run to take on the hangover. Amazingly this worked and my slow run wasn't quite as slow as I'd thought.

Wednesday 18th December:

Sluggish start although didn't feel nearly as bad as I probably should have. Happy to note ribs no longer hurt, cold sore has gone, threat of cold doesn't seem to have materialised and skin is looking much better, although the rash on my neck is raw and ghastly.

It's the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. And the 47th anniversary of the (real) Sex Pistols last London gig. Coincidence? Yes.
