While he shook off a few more beetles, Oz took a few moments to think back on what Mello had said. The monsters, past residents, escaping fate. Some of it seemed new, yet, at the same time, not really. He definintly had other things to ask him, but there were other issues at hand that needed to be worked out first. Mainly, this huge swarm of beetles that insisted on biting him and Mello.

Oz nodded in agreement, "Right," he said. If they could at least get into the hallway, the feeling of being trapped might subside a bit. "Let's go." From there, Oz started to make his way to the door.

Mello nodded dashed out the door and into the hallway. As he'd sort of expected-- it had been pretty bad before-- the hallway was completely flooded with beetles, and the infestation here was much worse than the one in the Dawn Room had been.

"Shit!" He hissed, before turning back to face the kid. "They're all over the... God damn it, get off me!" He stomped on another few beetles that had started to crawl up his foot.

He stood still for a few seconds, keeping a careful eye on the beetles. Those couple of bites had hurt, and he definitely didn't want to get bitten any more, although with this many insects in the house, it was likely inevitable that would happen. As he watched them, he noticed that the beetles all seemed to be scuttling towards the end of the hallway.

"Hey--" He pointed down the hallway towards where they were all going. "Look, they're all heading in the same direction, like some kinda mass migration." ...Where were they going? Perhaps it had some significance? "We should follow them."

As he subconsciously shook, brushed and swatted off any beetle that decided to crawl or land on him, Oz just stared out into the hallway in disbelief. Where did they all come from? Mello said that they were new, so it wasn't as if this happened everyday. They had to have come in from somewhere. Maybe the greenhouse he saw earlier hid them until today.

Such a concept, when he just got here, was tiring enough to think about. Add in the heat that was still radiating through the house and almost constantly moving to swat the sea of beetles away from his person was exhausting. He hadn't really caught the man's rant next to him; he seemed as focused on getting the bugs off of him as Oz was. Though, it wasn't until he felt one crawling up his back that he zoned back into the situation again. With a yell, he smacked it off.

Once again focused, he caught Mello's "Hey" and listed to the what he had to say. It was strange how they were all moving in the same direction. . . Then it struck him. "That's a good idea!" His cheery mood not ( ... )

...This kid was seriously way too cheerful, however, Mello wondered how long that would persist now that he was in this place.

" 'kay." He grinned-- again, quite insincerely-- back at Oz before taking off. He dashed down the rest of the hallway, stepping on however many beetles were too slow to get out of his way in the process, and paused only briefly to wait for Oz at the door, looking through to the next room to see where the beetles were going.

It appeared that they were all scurrying across the Grand Room, in the direction of the Greenhouse. Mello supposed it might make sense if they were heading towards there; after all, the closest thing to the outdoors in this house would make the most sense for a bunch of insects to live in. Unless they lived in the walls like termites or something...

While he was momentarily distracted in trying watching the beetles he was following up ahead, he lost track of the ones that were following him; another couple of beetles caught up to him and landed on his stomach, and he wasn't able to ( ... )

As he ran down the hallway, Oz watched his surroundings (well, more like the bugs) scurry and fly down the hallway. He knocked off any more that tried to land or crawl on him because there was no way he was letting anymore bite him. The other bites had grown into just a soreness at this point, but still, they were enough.

Catching up to Mello, Oz slowed down to take a look at the Greenhouse. Like the hallway and the Grand Room, the bugs were swarming there, too. It did make sense. If the bugs couldn't get outside themselves, then this would be the perfect place for them. That logic would have been just fine and dandy if the bugs were in fact staying in the Greenhouse, but that wasn't the case ( ... )
