But on Sunday I got this strong urge to go to the co-op and purchase some alcohol. so off I went to the co-op and brought 2 bottles of claret. Its not the ( Read more... )

Do I have a drink problem?

If your only thoughts revolve round where the next drink is coming from: yes.

If the "I really want wine first thing on a Sunday morning" was a one-off: no.

You're asking people for whom a bottle of wine makes a nice accompaniment to breakfast!

It's okay to drink a reasonable amount now and then, like a bottle of wine a couple of evenings a week. If you have a few days off drinking (e.g., Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) then things are all good. If you get to drinking more than a bottle of wine every day (with some beer and spirits), then you might possibly have a problem.

As long as you don't put wine on your Weetabix. That would not work at all.

I have my weetabixes soaked with a white russian!

Coffee Liqueur + Milk + Coco Pops is also a good breakfast choice.

You probably don't have a problem but I think it would be a good experience for you to go out sober and still have fun, I expect that you will begin drinking again once you've got it clear in your head that you drink because you want to rather than because you *have* to.

How come giving up drinking terrifies you?

When I was 18 I smoked but only down the Kambar. I eventually quit but it was long and hard with many times when I would start up again when I thought that I had succeeded in quiting. I'm kinda woried that if I had such a hard time quiting smoking than drinking will be harder as I have done it for far longer.

I've been associating going out and having fun with getting drunk for ages so being sober for a while will help.

Im thinking of keeping it at the moment but if I change my mind I shall give it to you. I think I shall be drinking at special occaisions like the beer festival and stuf. That wanting a drink thing on Sunday was a one off but also part of a series that was getting closer together. I agree with you an alcohol ban is a good thing.
