I saw MirrorMask over the weekend... and so I bought it. Enough said. :)

Hmm... haven't posted in a long long time. But a big old "blah" on explaining why.

Just finished Bodega Dreams by Ernesto Quinonez. I enjoyed it, but like a lot of first novels it seemed to have trouble living up to all that it promised. It seems easier for an author to build up to a big event than to actually deliver the big event. One good ( Read more... )

An article about reading Lolita at 13 from the blog of a bookslut. I strongly agree with Kate Kellaway in this article... that probably means I'll never see eye to eye with PTA members, conservatives or most people in the middle of the country. Good thing I teach science and not English.

Went to the drive-in Saturday night. War of the Worlds was boring, but Batman Begins was fun. It didn't finish until 1:30 in the morning so we camped out nearby.

last day of teaching for the summer... and not a day too soon.

started to move my stuff today, I sure do have a lot of books.

Oh, and everybody in the northern hemisphere: Celebrate the summer equinox. It's the longest day of the year... do something crazy.
