i've been thinking about moving to a different blogging site. it would be really weird to leave livejournal but it seems like so many people have abandoned this site. also the ads that pop up when you view this journal are annoying.
which site would you recommend? i already have a wordpress account that i used briefly in 2009.

Wordpress is nice but I always feel that their limited "free" version is not as cool/useful as the kind you install on web space you already have. On that note, tumblr is actually pretty versatile and fun, and has a nice "follow" feature to follow other tumblr blogs. It just doesn't permit for filtered privacy settings or filtered follower groups (yet), and that is my only gripe. Mine is nmbr18.tumblr.com and honestly I don't post the same personal soul-bearing journal type content as I used to on my LJ, but I also just haven't felt like posting that soul-bearing type stuff on LJ when no one is around to read it like back in the day.

Oh, also about tumblr: While mine isn't that exciting looking, I have seen quite a few tumblr blogs that look a lot like "real" blogs or even old crazy tricked out LJ/network sites of yore.

Lj being dead is so sad!! I've been on here since 00' so it's very sad to me. I've had a blogspot account for about a year and half now and it's just so hard to get followers over there.

OK! so I totally feel your pain here. I never post to my LJ or my wordpress blog because I never know which one to post to. I know that people will see my post if I post on LJ because it will go on their friends feed, but how would I really get people to pay attention at WP? I have a feed on LJ for my wordpress blog, but i have no idea if anyone follows the RSS of it so i never know where to post or who will see it. I usually feel that if I'm writing on my wordpress blog, I'm just shouting into the wind... and sometimes that's nice too...

I have no idea if that helps at all or makes it worse.

Even if doesn't end up being your main blog, I recommend tumblr too! It's just a lot of fun. I think you would like the community there, but it's not necessarily serious blogging.

I say go with wordpress and since I have a permanent LJ, I can always make you an LJ feed for here if you would like one. You'll start reading other blogs out there and make friends and you'll slowly but surely get more readers. It might be lonely at first, but you never know unless you have a stat counter if people are reading or not.

Blogger/blogspot is the same thing! If you sign up at blogger, you'll get a blogspot domain. I used to have a blogger blog & I miss it a lot. I may go back to that, but I'm focusing on my fiction tumblr right now. Honestly, I want a book deal and I have 122 followers already, so I'm crossing my fingers!
