Found out a little bit ago, the two pieces I submitted were accepted into a juried exhibit of encaustic paintings! Woohoo! Since it's my first real deal gallery show I figure I need to go to California to attend the opening reception. Just got my plane tickets!

I'm still very new to encaustic painting, but as soon as I discovered it, I was obsessed. The paintings I submitted are really different from my fanart or regular illustrations, but I guess that was sort of the point. I needed to do something tactile and different than the digital illustrations I do day in and day out. Although I do have lined up a young Rodney McKay family portrait next time I get some free time. :D

The gallery is in Santa Cruz. I'm originally from northern CA, so it'll be a fun little trip to visit some of the fam and go to the opening reception.
