Slashy Awards 151: Grave, Where Is Thy Victory?

Sep 18, 2006 20:23

First, an announcement.

Does anyone remember the 20 Questions game online? You know, the one where you played against a program. Well, it has new versions that are still in the learning phase, and I've had a delightful time teaching the movie and TV edition to be fannish. I added a bunch of my favorite characters to the database and have been ( Read more... )

I am mostly posting this because just *right this minute*, before I saw your post, I uploaded this new icon. Because I needed an icon for talking about Stargate. And I can't resist the chance to try it out.

I would say that this recs post has made my day, but since as usual, you posted it just when I *should* be going to bed, I suppose it's made my night. Or, well, my very-early-tomorrow morning.

Go ahead! I usually just ask people to credit the original source. (Star Trek #50, in this case.)

That is a most excellent icon, and perfect for talking about Stargate. I am deeply envious.

Um. Oops? Actually, until you said this, I hadn't noticed that I tend to post at night. I guess that's just when the posts are finished. (Or, more likely, that's when I think, "If I don't post this now, it won't get posted" and cease to wait for, you know, other things to say to occur to me.)

I suppose it's made my night. Or, well, my very-early-tomorrow morning.

Excellent! (And if I can provide even a tiny reason to get up in the morning, I will be very very proud. Um. Unless you actually like mornings, in which case you are still a good person, but a strange one. *eyes you warily*)

You are hilarious and reading your recs gives me a whole new take on the story. Even if I've already read it.

*nods solemnly*

And yes, Jack Daniel's figures in far too prominently in some fic, where, say, the two leads must have a song, a favorite outfit that the other wears, and a drink that they always have when in each other's company. Haven't heard the pairing referred to as Bourbon, though that would have entertainment value at least.

Thank you!

This sounds weirdly like the slash version of picking out a wedding theme. "And our color will be Goa'uld Glow, and our song will be 'My Heart Will Go On!'"

Haven't heard the pairing referred to as Bourbon, though that would have entertainment value at least.

"My OTP is bourbon" would have some unfortunate connotations, though.

Just wanted to say that seeing you have posted totally lit up my otherwise boring, illness-filled, no-one's-reccing-me-fic day. Thanks :-)

Am I the only one who immediately thought Daniel Jackson/Death OTP here? No, no you're not. They're clearly smitten with each other. Although I must say - you say Death, and I think Pratchett's Death, and... I don't think I want to go there. *g*

Also: thanks for reccing some SG1. I left that fandom in a fit of pique (s7 disappointed, s8 annoyed, but s9 downright pissed me off and I never thought the day would come when I was glad SG1 was cancelled, but it happened!), and through the residual annoyance I tend to forget there's still great fic out there I haven't read yet. There goes my afternoon :-)

Excellent! (And last week was my time to be sick, so I well know the horrors of the "I'm too out of it to do anything but hit 'refresh' on my friends list, and no one is posting me stuff to read" syndrome.)

Speaking of unfortunate pairing names, I just discovered that there is a Supernatural RPS pairing called Paddywhackles. TFV, hold me.

It's the blend of folksy and kinky that gets me.

Sadly, I already knew this. I was trying to keep it from you, to protect you from the horror.

Thank you!

LoL that it immediately picked Rodney McKay when I answered the question "Are you a hero?" with "Sometimes"!

*giggles*

And that is the perfect summary of why I love Rodney. (Well, that and the fact that he already managed to enter himself in the database.)
