Slashy Awards 151: Grave, Where Is Thy Victory?

Sep 18, 2006 20:23

First, an announcement.

Does anyone remember the 20 Questions game online? You know, the one where you played against a program. Well, it has new versions that are still in the learning phase, and I've had a delightful time teaching the movie and TV edition to be fannish. I added a bunch of my favorite characters to the database and have been ( Read more... )

Ha! Would you believe there's ANOTHER HnG vampire fic?

(The other one's a short little funny Ogata/Ashiwara story by thehoyden here.)

Eeeee yay! (And OMG, it's based on the one screencap where Ogata has no actual, um, tone to his skintone. Double yay!)

You're there now! *congratulates*

Wow. I watched you do that and thought, thank god I'll never get to 1000 entries. (1000 comments is a lot.)

(And, OMG, pirate spam. I love it.)

I didn't think I'd get even close o_0 Unfortunately, I have a pathological compulsion to try the ill-advised anyway which, while not smart or even evolutionarily sound, does mean I occasionally come up pirate spam. And really, can you ask any more? Aside from the phenomenal cosmic power thing.

See, yeah. If I did this, I am quite sure I would not get close, which is why I'm just as glad that I'll never get to 1000 entries. I mean, holy shit. 1,000 comments. That is a lot. Wow.

You know, there are probably certain circles where "pirate spam" would be considered a bad thing. This just makes me all the happier that I am in fandom, where pirate spam can only ever be good. (As opposed to "spam pirates," which is bound to be bad. *shivers me timbers*)

Rare fandoms only at this point, I'd think.

You would think, wouldn't you? And yet it totally lacks Wesley Wyndham-Price, was mostly ignorant of Cordelia and, get this: while Dean Winchester is consistently one of the most popular objects (hah), Sam Winchester didn't even get a blip.

*pets him* There are people out there who love you, Sammy! Really!

Wow. It didn't know Wesley? That's - that's very sad.

But, hey, you're there to save the day. This is why I put the link up there - I knew that only fangirls could be relied upon to educate the program properly.

Good lord. I'm so not in touch with SPN that I didn't even know that Dean was way more popular than Sam. Oh, 20Q, you teach us the hard truths. *sad nod*

my thought exactly. But on the plus side, they're apparently pretty quick at adding in new entries, because all the ones I added are in there already. *plays obsessively* Ah-hah, it pretty reliably gets Cordelia now, anyway, although for some reason it thinks she's not a mother. Oh, fandom, I want to repress S4 too...

*bitter laughter* Dean is one of those characters like, I dunno, Lex or Draco or Rodney, (except having no actual character traits in common with any of them) who something like 90% of the fandom instantly latches onto and adores. I love him to pieces but poor old Sammy gets shafted too often. *pets*

I had to submit one of them twice, but in general, they get those puppies added right quick.

I had a total Paul Gross arms moment when it started reliably getting Shindou Hikaru and Touya Akira. Pathetic? Perhaps. But we have to celebrate the minor victories, you know?

Ah. Yes. I know how that goes ( ... )

Thank you! Even cooler than the rec itself is the fabulous Post Hoc being offered as the lower-stress alternative. Beaming.

(And, yeah, it's obviously the tea. Ti Kuan Yin! The iron goddess of mercy, for when the you just can't break the boys enough.)

Okay, first: your icon clearly needs to be modified to say "hard life." Daniel's gone past the point where he has mere hard days.

And, yeah, it's obviously the tea. Ti Kuan Yin! The iron goddess of mercy, for when the you just can't break the boys enough.

Okay, now I'm not sure whether I should laugh or order you to back slowly away from the characters.

Oh, who am I kidding. I'm going to laugh. I want you to play with the characters. Even if you are very very mean to them.

*snickers*

totally not my kind of story, would never read a story like that, etc etc, and i have reread it many times and i just. can't. help. it.

Yes, precisely! SG1 is the fandom of stories like that, at least for me - these brilliant stories that are totally not for me and yet somehow totally are.

and did you know synedochic actually WROTE daniel/death? yup.

Not until I made this post, but I'm definitely going to read that now, you betcha. I can't believe I missed it.
