Ship meme - Day 08 - The pairing with the most baggage?
The couple with the most baggage, really, should be Grissom and Sara, but I am trying for as long as I can to use a different couple every day and pretty soon I'm going to have to start recycling.
Also!! It's come up quite suddenly that I have to go away to a conference in the next 3 days and of course, my priorities being what they are, I am terrified that I will not be able to keep up with the meme. And that I won't be able to watch the Chuck season premiere on Tuesday :( I get 2 hours free Wifi every day so I should be ok with the meme but it may not be enough to download Chuck... it depends how fast it is :(

He's a womaniser; she tried to kill herself. Is that enough baggage? :) When the series starts we know that they used to be together and have broken up and we suspect this has a lot to do with her suicide attempt. This is one of those relationships that never seems to be at the right moment for the two characters to get back together. Either she's with someone, or he's with someone, and it drags on for about 4 years. I think it's season 4 when Carol's coming back home from a date and finds Doug outside her house waiting for her to come home. Then he kisses her. And that's it. They get back together, stay together, but the baggage doesn't end here, noooo. In fact he has to leave town for a hospital scandal and she doesn't tell him that she's pregnant until after she's had the babies (twins). When he finds out he invites her to go see him in Seattle and they actually reunite and stay together forever. Which is nice :D
I was never obsessive about this ship the way I am about many others, never read fanfic or researched it because this was one of the few shows, or maybe the only one, where I was content following the Italian airing without looking for spoilers... so their reunion was all the sweeter in the sense I had no clue it was coming. In fact I was even a little suprised at hearing their voices in the clip above. After this episode I watched for one, maybe two more years, then stopped without regrets because this show to me had been all about them in the first place anyway. I did ship Mark and Susan for a while, especially because I started watching around the time that there was that big unrequited love storyline, but it is one of the worst endings for a ship they could possibly think of and a real cop-out. *makes you're dead to me face at Mark and Susan*
